Only Buhari's Doctors in London can determine when he will return says APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that it is only the London doctors attending to President Muhammadu Buhari’s health will decide when the President will come back to Nigeria. The party also said that President Buhari is recovering fast from his illness contrary to allegations that he is on life support.

The National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, gave the assurance in Abuja while speaking with newsmen at the end of a meeting between the party`s National Working Committee (NWC) and state governors elected on the party’s platform.

“We are glad to inform you that President Muhammadu Buhari is recovering in a very robust manner.

“We hope he takes it easy and when he comes back, I have no doubt at all that we will have a new and active period of activities.’’

He, however, said only the president’s doctors abroad could decide when he would be fit to return to the country.

Gov. Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State had recently alleged that President Buhari was on life-support in a London Hospital where he is receiving medical attention.

The national chairman, however, refused to respond to the governor’s comment, saying he would do that at an appropriate time.

“If I respond, I will be dignifying him.

“At the appropriate time, people will answer him; at the appropriate level; at the appropriate time.

“He is in a different world altogether.’’

According to him, the party’s leadership has confidence in President Buhari.

He added that the meeting x-rayed the nation, ongoing agitation for its restructuring and inciting statements emanating from different parts of the country.

Odigie-Oyegun stressed that such inciting statements are not good “for the nation`s health and have to be stopped’’.

According to him, the party maintains its earlier position on the restructuring of the country as clearly stated in its manifesto.

He further said the party’s leadership would do all it could at all times to ensure that the unity of the country was preserved.

He added that the APC leadership was ready to listen to whatever grievances any group in the country might have.

Court orders Sahara Reporters to pay N4billion to Saraki over publishing of fake news

An Ilorin High Court, presided over by Justice Adeyinka Oyinloye, has ruled that the publisher of online newspaper, Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, should pay a sum of N4 billion as damage to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

The judgement which was passed on Wednesday, June 28, was over a series of libelous stories published against Saraki on Sahara Reporters in between September and December 2015.
The Senate President had, through his lawyer, Babatunde Olomu, asked for the intervention of the court following the publications.
Ilorin High Court slams N4billion damage on Sahara Reporters over libelous story against Saraki
Sahara Reporters publisher, Omoyele Sowore had had dozens of court cases instituted against him
Both Sowore and Sahara Reporters were joined as defendants in the suit marked as KWS/23/2017.
Speaking with the Nigerian Tribune on Thursday, June 29, Olomu said that the defendants had refused to defend the case despite the service of the summons on them.
He said the first series of service involved an arrangement between the office of the Nigerian ministry of justice and their counterpart in New York, the operational base of the medium.
When that failed, the counsel said the claimant thereafter seized the opportunities of a visit to Nigeria by Sowore to serve him at his two properties in Ikeja area of Lagos state.
Delivering the judgment, the court agreed with Olomu and granted all the reliefs sought by the claimant in the case.
Meanwhile, Saraki has commended the judgment by the court, stressing that it was a testament that the moral arc of the universe will always bend towards justice.
Ilorin High Court slams N4billion damage on Sahara Reporters over libelous story against Saraki
“This judgement is a fulfillment of our promise that we will explore all legal means to seek redress for all the fabrications and mudslinging that Sahara Reporters has thrown at us over the years.
“This judgement demonstrates that our justice system can and will continue to protect the fundamental human rights of all citizens from being infringed by anyone.
“The ruling by Justice Adeyinka Oyinloye, will serve as a deterrent to all those who profit by propagating ‘Fake News’ to blackmail innocent citizens or curry undue favours.
“This judgement is definitely not a victory for the Senate President alone. It is a victory for all the victims of the falsehood which Sahara Reporters daily dole out to rubbish the reputation of innocent Nigerians, many of whom either out of fear, lack of the patience to consistently pursue a court case for years or lack of belief in the ability of the system to give them justice decided to live with the injury to their reputation,” the statement said.
The Senate President vowed that he will not spare any legal efforts and expenses, both in Nigeria and abroad, necessary to recover every kobo of the cost awarded in his favour from the defendant.
“The restitution from this judgement will be channeled to set up a foundation whose aim will be to support pure and unadulterated investigative journalism and assist the families of real journalists that die in the line of duty.
“The money will also be used to support genuine publications whose owners are struggling to pay salaries of workers or meet their ever rising running cost. Part of the money will also be channelled to help lawyers who have been providing pro bono services to litigants, particularly, on cases bothering on enforcement of fundamental human rights,” the statement concluded.

Beyonce had sung on the ‘Lemonade’ album of JAY-Z cheating on her
With her apparent accusations of spousal infidelity on LEMONADEBeyoncé had her fans lashing out at JAY-Zand trying to identify the woman involved, and with 4:44, he’s taking some time to respond.
‘Kill Jay Z,’ ‘4:44,’ Family Feuds,’ and ‘Legacy’ all give insight – or at least the insight that Jay wants us to hear — into the usually extremely private life of the Carters, who just added twins to their family earlier this month.
The project’s introductory track ‘Kill Jay Z’ immediately addresses the cheating rumours sparked by Bey’s visual project, LEMONADE.
‘You almost went Eric Benét,’ JAY raps, ‘Let the baddest girl in the world get away/ I don’t even know what else to say/ Nigga, never go Eric Benét/ I don’t even know what you woulda done/ In the future, other niggas playin’ football with your son.’
(And yes, that last line is a reference to Russell Wilson and Future.)
On the album’s self-titled track, he opens up about how having a daughter has changed the way he views women.
He also apologizes to his wife for not being as mature when they first met, and asks himself why he made choices that could have caused issues with his relationship with Queen Bey.
‘You did what with who?’ JAY says on the song. ‘What good is a ménage à trois when you have a soulmate?/ You risked that for Blue? If I wasn’t a superhero in your face/ My heart breaks for the day I had to explain my mistakes.’
On the Beyoncé-assisted ‘Family Feud,’ he responds to his wife’s infamous ‘Becky with the good hair’ lyric off the LEMONADE track, ‘Sorry.’
‘Yeah, I’ll fuck up a good thing if you let me/ Let me alone, Becky,’ JAY spits, expressing unity with the lines, ‘Nobody wins when the family feuds’ and ‘What’s better than one billionaire? Two/ ‘Specially if they’re from the same hue as you.’

US Ambassador to Nigeria says Biafra is bound to fail

The United States ambassador to Nigeria, Stuart Symington, has said those calling for secession in Nigeria will be overcome by Nigerians who support the unity of the country.
Symington, speaking at an event held in commemoration of the 241st anniversary of American independence in Abuja on Thursday, June 29, drew similarities between Nigeria and America, the Punch reports.
The ambassador said the first American president, George Washington, had warned that those who seek to weaken a country would always seek to start by causing disunity.
He said just like America, determined people and leaders in Nigeria would ensure that the country remains united.
Symington said: “Every time we have been challenged, we overcame danger because we had visionary leaders committed to union and citizens committed to ensuring justice for all.
“Today, Nigeria is fortunate to have such leaders and citizens. Together, they are dedicated to keeping Nigeria united and just and to ensuring every Nigerian is heard and taken into account and treated fairly.
“Together, those Nigerians will overpower any call to divide this nation.
“Thanks to them, thanks to you, the lamp of unity and justice burns brightly both in our nations tonight. And the sight of a united Nigeria’s light lifts Africa and with it, the world.”
The US envoy said Nigeria’s diversity is an inspiration to many countries, noting that Nigeria’s plurality was a source of strength.

In China oyinbo woman faints in shock after she breaks a N14M bracelet

The woman blacked out after breaking the pricey bracelet
A tourist in China is reported to have fainted after accidentally breaking a jade bracelet worth $44,000 (£35,000/N14m).
The woman was visiting a jade market in south western China’s Yunnan province on June 27 when she accidentally dropped a bracelet while trying it on.
When she was told the bracelet’s price she quickly took it off but in her haste dropped it.

Unfortunately for the woman, the jade bracelet snapped in half, reports the People’s Daily Online.
Shop staff attempted to calm the woman after the breakage, but she turned pale, began sweating and eventually fainted.
According to reports, the bracelet slipped out of her hand and it split in two after hitting the floor.
Jade is a luxury product in China and is seen to represent good health and a long life.

Shop staff then told the woman she could pay $25,000 to resolve the matter, but she said she could only afford $1,500.
Police were unable to persuade the parties to reach an agreement and the matter may need to go to court.

The shop asked her to pay $25,000 but she said she could only afford to pay $1,500
According to witnesses, the family offered the seller 70,000 yuan (£8,000) in damages, however he refused saying that was not enough for them to break even.
The bracelet was valued by an independent expert to cost around 180,000 yuan (£20,700). The family agreed to pay the owner this sum of money.

Billionaire Kidnapper sues the police force demands N300M in damages

Suspected billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike aka Evans, has again dragged the Inspector General of Police, and three others before a Federal High Court in Lagos over his alleged illegal detention.

In the new suit filed on Thursday, Evans is claiming N300 million as general and exemplary damages against the police for alleged illegal detention and unconstitutional media trial.

Joined as respondents in his new originating motion are the Nigeria Police Force, the  Commissioner of Police Lagos State and the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Lagos State Police Command.

Evans had on June 28  filed an ex parte application with reference number FHC/L/CS/1012/2017, before the same court, seeking an order directing the respondents to charge him to court.

He had also in the alternative, sought an order directing the respondents to release him unconditionally where no charge is preferred against him.

In an affidavit deposed to by his father, Mr Stephen Onwuamadike, it was averred that the applicant has been subjected to media trial without any court order by the respondents.

Onwuamadike further averred that the media trial and news orchestrated by the respondents have continued to generate reactions in both print and electronic media without his son being afforded fair hearing before a court of law.

Evans contended that his continued detention by the respondents since June 10, without a charge, or release on bail, is an infringement on his fundamental rights.

In his new suit also marked FHC/L/CS/1012/ 2017 and with the same persons as respondents, the applicant is seeking a declaration that his continued detention since June 10 without arraignment, violates his fundamental rights as guaranteed under the 1999 Constitution.

He is also seeking a declaration that his parade on June 11 before journalists in Lagos, at the Lagos Police Command Headquarters in Ikeja, without any court order, is unconstitutional and illegal.

He is consequently, seeking an order, compelling the respondents to immediately arraign him before a law court, or release him from custody forthwith.

‘Evans’’ is also seeking an order, compelling the respondents to jointly and severally, pay him the sum of N300 million as exemplary damages for illegal detention and alleged harm caused by the alleged media trial.

The suspect is also seeking an order of perpetual injunction, restraining the respondents from further arresting, detaining, harassing, investigating or inviting him in relation to the facts of his case.

Man mistake for Côte D'Ivoire ex president Laurent Gbagbo attacked by irate citizens in France

In the video below, several men seen with the Ivorian country's flag around their necks, joined forces and pounced on the man after he was spotted walking on the streets of Paris.
Recall that in 2011,  Cote D'Ivoire's former president Laurent Gbagbo was faced with corruption charges, including four counts of crimes against humanity – murder, rape and other forms of sexual violence, persecution and “other inhuman acts” at the International Criminal Court in Hague.
In 2016, Gbagbo denied all charges leveled against him.
It was later revealed in the video as a case of mistaken identity, as the victim who escaped been lynched was later seen to be an innocent man whose only crime was for the uncanny resemblance to the former vice President.

Meet Basori Lal a 50 year old man who stopped growing at age five

A 50-year-old man whose height is that of a healthy five-year-old is currently the toast of villagers and visitors to their tiny Indian village.

As a toddler, there was nothing to distinguish Basori Lal from his peers, and it was only around age five that his family started to notice that he had stopped growing.

However, because they were poor, his family could not seek medical attention to at least know what was wrong with him, and to also see if the situation could be treated.

As reported by MailOnline, Basori was never given a medical diagnosis, and to this day, his relatives have no idea what caused him to be so short.

His 55-year-old elder brother, Gopi Lal, said: “Nobody was able to take him to a doctor. We are poor people, I am a labourer. Where would I take him?”

As Basori grew older, he encountered some tough times and experienced some bullying in his village, but thankfully, those days are past.

He said: “People used to bully me a lot. They used to call me an alien. But that time is gone now. I am the only one who is being loved by the villagers.”

Now, at the age of 50, Basori lives with his brother Gopi and Gopi’s wife, Satia.

The 50-year-old works in a factory with his relatives, and says he enjoys a glass of whiskey every night before bed.

He has never married and says he doesn’t want to.

I'm glad he got shot, obscene comment made by a Democratic Party Official

congress baseball shooting

A volunteer co-chair of the Nebraska Democratic Party's technology committee was fired after he made a derogatory reference to House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, who was wounded in a shooting at a congressional baseball practice last week.
Phil Montag made the comments during a conversation that was being recorded, The Washington Post reported on Friday.
"I'm glad he got shot," Montag allegedly said, according to The
Post. "I wish he was f---ing dead."
In the recording, Montag went on to describe Scalise's job as one in which he was to "convince Republicans to ... kick people off f---ing healthcare."
The conversation appeared to be an argument between Montag and at least two other people, one of whom revealed he was disturbed by Montag's comments.
"Why are you telling us, but not telling anyone else," one person said to Montag. "I've been recording this conversation since you've come in, so I will publicly release it myself."
After the recording surfaced, Montag said that his comments were part of a longer exchange that lasted 30 minutes to an hour and were taken out of context, the Omaha World-Herald reported.
"Like every decent American I am saddened and horrified by the shooting of Congressman Scalise," Montag wrote in an email to the publication. "I do not and did not wish for his death. I am hopeful that the entirety of the original, unedited recording will emerge so we can get to the truth of the matter."
After the recording was released, Nebraska Democratic Chairwoman Jane Kleeb announced Montag would be removed from his post and made a report to the police out of concern Montag's comments amounted to a possible death threat, according to the Omaha World-Herald.
"As soon as I heard it, I sent it to the [party] officers and then sent an email to Phil Montag informing him I am removing him from his appointed position as Co-Chair of the Technology Committee," Kleeb wrote in an email Thursday." "Wishing a Member of Congress or any individual dead is disgusting and has no place in our party."
Scalise was shot in the hip by a gunman during a congressional baseball practice in Alexandria, Virginia, on June 14. Four others were wounded during the incident. The gunman, 66-year-old James Hodgkinson of Belleville, Illinois, was killed by the police.
Scalise remained hospitalized on Friday.

Lady who works at at a restaurant gets sacked for refusing to wear a bra

Meet Kate Hanna, 22, went bra-free while serving drinks at the Bird and Beer in Beverley in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

But she says managers at the trendy Californian-themed bar felt her outfit left too little to the imagination. However, they deny she was dismissed for that reason.
Kate stormed home on Saturday and took a selfie still in her grey T-shirt uniform to prove a point she wasn’t being offensive.

“So, I’ve just got home after being sacked from my job, for refusing to wear a bra,” she wrote on Facebook. “Yesterday an inappropriate sexual remark was made to me (at work). I felt uncomfortable, objectified and shocked that this had happened.

Unfortunately (the manager) saw fit to deal with the situation by telling me that I’m not allowed into work in future unless I’m wearing a bra. This was said to me in front of three other staff members and customers, leaving me feeling body shamed and completely shocked that the blame was being put onto me that I had been sexually harassed at work.

I am absolutely disgusted with the blatant lack of respect for my right as a woman to wear whatever makes me personally comfortable. I feel so sad. Nobody should EVER feel the need to hide themselves in order to stay away from unwanted sexual comments/behaviour.”

New York Times dedicates a full page to print "Trump's Lies" since entering office

Donald Trump

The New York Times used a full page in the opinion section of Sunday's paper to print what it described as nearly every lie President Donald Trump had publicly told since taking office just over five months ago.
The list includes contradictions by Trump on a slew of topics, like the Iraq War, NATO, the administration's travel ban, the crowd size at Trump's inauguration, and the ongoing controversy over Russia's interference in the 2016 election and the Trump campaign's possible role in it.
Trump has contradicted himself on a regular basis and said many misleading statements since taking office and during the presidential campaign. His frequent falsehoods have prompted a debate by observers about whether to call them "lies," a label critics say suggests an intent that may not always be clear.
Yet his rise to political stardom was built on his spreading the false "birther" theory that President Barack Obama was born in Kenya and not a US citizen. Beginning in 2011, Trump led the charge calling for Obama to release his long-form birth certificate, which he eventually did. Trump did not publicly reverse his comments until last September during the election, five years after he initially pushed the conspiracy theory.
"President Barack Obama was born in the United States," he said. "Period."
He then blamed the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee, Hillary Clinton, for starting the falsehood, saying: "Hillary Clinton and her campaign of 2008 started the birther controversy. I finished it. I finished it — you know what I mean." That claim has never been substantiated.
Trump's tendency to spout falsehoods also led the former FBI director James Comey to testify under oath that he did not trust the president to be honest about the nature of their private meetings.
When asked by the Senate Intelligence Committee chairman, Richard Burr, why he documented his interactions with Trump more meticulously than he did with Obama while serving as FBI director, Comey replied: "I was honestly concerned that he might lie about the nature of our meeting, and so I thought it really important to document."

In the magazine’s accompanying article, the 23 grand slam winner revealed how she met fiance Ohanian, who is the co-founder of Reddit.
The couple met at the restaurant of the Cavalieri hotel in Rome on May 12, 2015.

That night Serena was about to play her first match in the Italian Open. She was with her longtime agent Jill Smoller, of William Morris Endeavor Entertainment, and Zane Haupt, who handles some business-development opportunities for Serena.
They got talking after Serena invited him to their table and from there they kicked things off.

Alexis proposed in December 2016 at the same Cavalieri hotel where they met I  May 2015.
Alexis picked the same room they had shared a year earlier, the hotel at his instruction filling it with flowers. He took her downstairs to the same table by the pool area where they had first met. No one else was there, since the hotel, also at his instruction, had cleared everyone else out,” Vanity Fair writes.
Serena also revealed her shock when she learnt that she was pregnant at the Australian Open in January 2017. After feeling a lit bit different physically, she was urged by her friend Jessica Steindorff to carry out a pregnancy test.
She admitted that she ‘did a double take’ and ‘her heart dropped’ when the result came out positive. But to be sure, she sent Jessica to the pharmacy to buy five more test kits.
Six tests she carried out to confirm the pregnancy.
She called Alexis and told him he needed to come to Melbourne earlier than planned. On his arrival, Serena handed him a paper bag with six positive pregnancy tests.
Playing with a baby inside of her was different for Serena at the 2017 Australian Open.

Cancer causing fish dish "KOI PLA'' discovered by doctors in Thailand

Millions of Thais across the rural northeast eat koi pla -- a local dish made of raw fish ground with spices and lime. The pungent meal is quick, cheap and tasty, but it is also a favourite feast for parasites that can cause a lethal liver cancer.

It wasn't until he got to medical school that Narong Khuntikeo finally discovered what caused the liver cancer that took both of his parents' lives, their lunch.
Like millions of Thais across the rural northeast, his family regularly ate koi pla -- a local dish made of raw fish ground with spices and lime.
The pungent meal is quick, cheap and tasty, but the fish is also a favourite feast for parasites that can cause a lethal liver cancer killing up to 20,000 Thais annually.
Most hail from northeast, a large, poor region known as Isaan that has dined on koi pla for generations and now has the highest reported instance of the Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) -- bile duct cancer -- in the world.
One of the major causes of CCA is a parasitic flatworm -- or fluke -- which is native to the Mekong region and found in many freshwater fish.
Once eaten, the worms can embed undetected in the bile ducts for years causing inflammation that can, over time, trigger the aggressive cancer, according to the World Health Organization.
"It's a very big health burden around here... it effects families, education and socioeconomic development," said Narong, who went on to become a liver surgeon to battle the scourge.
"But nobody knows about this because they die quietly, like leaves falling from a tree."
After seeing hundreds of hopeless late-stage cases on the operating table, Narong is now marshalling scientists, doctors and anthropologists to attack the "silent killer" at source.
They are fanning out across Isaan provinces to screen villagers for the liver fluke and warn them of the perils of koi pla and other risky fermented fish dishes.
But changing eating habits is no easy task in a region where love for Isaan's famously chili-laden cuisine runs deep.

I can't kill my unborn child says 16 year old Zainab Isah who got pregnant while in Boko Haram Captivity

In an emotional & heart wrenching video shot by The Vice on Youtube, 16 year old Zainab Isah spoke of how she and other girls in her community in Yola, Adamawa state were abducted and married off by Boko Haram members.
While being held captive, one of her abductors got her pregnant.  She soon became traumatized that she had to escape from the sect members and returned to her community where she is currently being ridiculed for keeping the baby of a Boko Haram member.

The 16 year old teen says she cannot kill her unborn child because doing that then makes her a killer and in no way different from her abductors. Zainab who hoped for a girl child because some  community members had vowed to kill her child if it were a boy, is deeply sad as a recent scan confirmed she is having a boy.

Diezani's alleged partner in crime Kola Aluko loses his $50.9M Penthouse in New York

Kola Aluko

Nigerian oil tycoon, Kola Aluko has lost his luxurious penthouse apartment in one of New York City’s most expensive residential buildings to a Luxembourg based Banque Havilland.
In a recent report by New York Post, the loss of the luxurious apartment, is coming after Aluko failed to pay a bank loan one year later borrowing from Banque Havilland.
It was further reported that the property, known as Apartment 79, was sold to Aluko in December 2014 for 50.9million Dollars, making it the eighth most expensive unit in the building.
However, less than a year later Aluko reportedly took out a 35.5million Dollars mortgage from Banque Havilland in Luxembourg to help pay for the apartment.
Already, the apartment would be sold to the highest bidder by Banque Havilland, in a foreclosure auction in July 2017.
It’s probably the most-expensive foreclosure we’ve ever seen in luxury development. I don’t know of a foreclosure that’s larger than that,” Donna Olshan, president of high-end Manhattan brokerage Olshan Realty Inc., told newsmen.
Banque Havilland reportedly took possession of the 6,420-square-foot apartment, according to court documents.
The luxurious apartments in the building has amenities that include a 24-hour doorman and concierge, fitness center, yoga studio, private dining room, catering kitchen, library, valet service and on-site parking.
48-years-old Aluko, who has been declared wanted by the EFCC, is rumoured to be hiding away on his yacht, which was last registered in the Bahamas in May 2017 at Ja Rule Fyre Festival in the Bahamas in late April.
In 2016, Aluko sold his mansion in Bel-Air, Los Angeles for $21.5 million.
