In Germany two killed and four wounded in Nightclub shooting

A gunman killed one person and wounded four others in a German nightclub before being shot dead by police

A gunman opened fire at a packed nightclub in southern Germany early Sunday, killing one and wounding four before being shot by police, authorities said, in an attack likely motivated by a personal feud.
The 34-year-old man, identified as an Iraqi national, "was critically injured in a shootout with police officers as he left the disco, and later succumbed to his wounds in hospital," police said in a statement.
"Investigations are ongoing into the background of the act, which was likely linked to a dispute in the attacker's personal life. There are no indications of a terror act," police added.
The foreign gunman was not an asylum seeker and has been living in the Constance region, which borders Switzerland, for 15 years.
Officers began receiving emergency calls from terrified clubbers at around 4:30 am (0230 GMT) as the man began shooting in the nightclub heaving with "several hundred" people, said police.
One person was killed on the spot and three others seriously wounded in the club called "Grey", located in an industrial zone of the city, which draws Swiss revellers during the weekends.
Shortly after the gunman left the building, he was shot by police. One officer was also injured in the exchange of fire.
Frightened revellers had either fled the building or found a place to hide, police said, adding that the danger was now over.
Helicopters were circling overhead and special forces were also deployed to secure the site.

A witness told national news agency DPA that the attacker was shooting randomly at clubbers around him.

"The club was jam-packed," added the unnamed man, who said he had seen the attacker and fled quickly with his friends.
Another unnamed clubber was quoted by Suedkurier daily that he was in the washroom when someone came in and closed the toilet door saying there was shooting.
"I didn't believe it and went out. But I heard shots and quickly ran back to the toilet and closed the door with another person. With us was a bouncer who was shot and he was bandaging the wound with a belt," said the witness.
A bartender then opened the emergency exit door, allowing revellers to flee, he said, adding that he saw another person with a wound in the leg lying on the grass by the parking lot.
"I just shouted at everyone to run and when we were in the parking lot, we heard shots again," he said.
Police was unable to confirm the type of weapon used, but Bezikofer said it was "not just a pistol, the talk is of a long weapon or an automatic pistol".
The shooting came just two days after Germany was shaken by a knife attack in the northern port city of Hamburg.
A 26-year-old Palestinian had killed one and injured six in an assault at a supermarket.
He was a known Islamist with psychological problems, and investigators say his motives remain unclear.
Germany has been on high alert about the threat of a jihadist attack, especially since last December's truck rampage through a Berlin Christmas market that claimed 12 lives.

Fayose says FG is trying hard to cover the fact that Boko Haram is now stronger than ever

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has debunked claims by the Federal Government that it has defeated Boko Haram.

The governor in a press release issued on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Idowu Adelusi, argued that Boko Haram had yet to be defeated and had not even been degraded.

He stated that the brutal killings by Boko Haram all over the place contradicted the lie by the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government that it had won the battle against the insurgency.

“The battle is not over yet. In fact, it is raging fiercer than ever before. The gory killing of the oil workers confirms this. The wanton destruction of lives and property all over the place by Boko Haram also testifies to this fact.

“Like the ostrich, this government is trying hard to cover what cannot be covered. Boko Haram ambushes and kills soldiers at will.
“Gallant officers and men continue to fall in battle to the superior firepower and higher morale of the insurgents.
“Boko Haram invades and sacks communities at will, carting away human beings and other resources.

“The insurgents throw bombs with reckless abandon. Is this the evidence of a degraded or defeated Boko Haram?”

Fayose expressed regret that corruption in the military under this administration had degraded the military that gallant soldiers were no longer able to stand before Boko Haram, not to talk of defeating the insurgents.

Choi! CNN mocks Nigerians over the absence of President Buhari

American news network, CNN, has mocked Nigeria, asking where is President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Nigerian president has not been in the country for over two months and the news television in a query on its website on Sunday asked which “head of state from which country has not set foot in his homeland in over two months?”

The mockery came in the latest edition of CNN’s “The Global Public Square (GPS)” show anchored by Fareed Zakaria. In an apparent mockery of Nigeria and her President Muhammadu Buhari, CNN, on its programme displayed at 4:59pm local time on Sunday, asked,“The head of state from which country has not set foot in his homeland in over two months?”
It went ahead to tick an option with the name Nigeria as the correct answer. The options were given as Saudi Arabia, Cuba, Nigeria and Syria. A screenshot of the mockery tweeted by Chidi Odinkalu, Former Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission asked What do you say Nigerians?

Beware! Suya and Boli can cause cancer says SOGHIN

Nigerians have been urged to go for periodic screening, especially for colon cancer, which is said to be a huge burden on the country, as it is common among people above 40.

The President, Society for Gastroenterology and Hepatology in Nigeria President, Prof Musa Borodo, gave this warning at a press briefing commemorating the 10th Scientific Conference and Annual General Meeting of the association in Ado Ekiti.

Borodo warned that diseases such as colorectal cancer, liver cancer, helicobacter pyloris and other infections that occur in the gastrointestinal tract, are usually not easy to detect when looking out for signs and symptoms.

And when the symptoms are obvious they are often too late to treat. According to him, about 10 percent of people in Nigeria are suffering from Hepatitis B – a viral infection – which he warned could lead to cancer, if not properly treated.

“This (Hepatitis B) is something that can be prevented, if you don’t treat it, it could become cancer. So, it is a huge problem.” Borodo said it was chosen to create awareness on early detection of cancer, prevention and cure.

Borodo lamented that two cases of cancer at end stage are reported daily in the treatment centre. He advised people to take natural foods, avoid refined sugar, eat well, exercise regularly, drink clean water, visit hospitals for routine check up and stay away from smoking to avoid cancer.

Stating some of the cause of cancer, the Chairman, Local Organising Committee for the conference, Dr. Deji Ajayi, cautioned against taking burnt boli (plantain), burnt suya and refined drinks as they could cause cancer.

Contractors hault construction work on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway over N8.94bn Debt

The contractor in charge of the reconstruction and expansion works on the Lagos-Ibadan dual carriageway, Section II, along Shagamu-Ibadan, with Contract No. 6205, has suspended further execution of the project due to a total outstanding debt of N8.94bn.

Reynolds Construction Company Nigeria Limited, in a letter addressed to the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, and dated June 2, 2017, called the attention of the minister to the worsening financial situation of the project and pleaded for his intervention in order to ease the continuation of work on the site.

The letter which was received and acknowledged by the office of the minister on June 5, 2017, and made available to our correspondent in Abuja on Friday, revealed that as of when it was sent, the outstanding debt on approved certificates for certified works on the project was N7.83bn.

Reynolds told the minister that the 28-day window allowed for the payment of the certificates as contained in the conditions of the contract between parties had “long expired.”

The firm said, “In addition, there is another Certificate (No.19) of N1,108 334, 258 under processing. Thus, making a total of N8, 937,611,552. The mounting debt profile on this project is worrisome.”

The letter, which was signed by the firm’s Managing Director, who simply gave his name as M. Nakhla, stated that RCC was committed to the successful completion of the project, but maintained that funding was a challenge.

It said, “In view of the dire situation, we shall be constrained to suspend further execution of work unless there is an appreciable improvement in the project’s cash flow and adequate funding arrangement is put in place for further works. This painful decision is bound to delay the scheduled completion of the project, in addition to the inherent cost implication.

“This letter is, therefore, a notice of our intention to suspend further execution of the project, pursuant to Clause 68(8) of the Conditions of Contract. In that unfortunate event, we shall require payment of the outstanding debt as well as full coverage of our attendant expenses and losses before the resumption of work. A corresponding extension of time shall also become imperative, pursuant to Clause 44 of the CC.”

The letter was also copied to Motorways Asset Limited.

Trump says to Republician senators that they ''look like fools''

President Donald Trump.

President Donald Trump unleashed a storm of tweets Saturday morning aimed at Senate Republicans following their shocking defeat in the effort to repeal the Affordable Care Act earlier this week.
"Republican Senate must get rid of 60 vote NOW!" Trump tweeted. "It is killing the R Party, allows 8 Dems to control country. 200 Bills sit in Senate. A JOKE!"
Trump was referring to a longstanding Senate rule, which requires 60 votes to overcome a filibuster in the upper chamber.
Trump said the "very outdated" rule "must go" and added, "Budget reconciliation is killing R's in Senate. Mitch M, go to 51 Votes NOW and WIN. IT'S TIME!"
This is not the first time Trump has urged the Senate's Republican leadership to get rid of the filibuster. Just on Friday, Trump called the 60-vote rule "senseless."
He added on Saturday: "Republicans in the Senate will NEVER win if they don't go to a 51 vote majority NOW. They look like fools and are just wasting time......" He continued, "8 Dems totally control the U.S. Senate. Many great Republican bills will never pass, like Kate's Law and complete Healthcare. Get smart!"
"If the Senate Democrats ever got the chance, they would switch to a 51 majority vote in first minute," Trump saidin another tweet. "They are laughing at R's. MAKE CHANGE!"
Trump's tweets aimed at Senate Republicans came on the heels of a blistering defeat the president and the GOP were handed earlier this week, when members of their own party defected and came out against the so-called "skinny repeal" of Obamacare that Majority Leader Mitch McConnell put forward late Thursday night.
In addition to all 48 members of the Senate Democratic caucus, three Republicans — Sens. Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, and John McCain — also voted against the measure, effectively killing the GOP's efforts to overhaul the healthcare system.
Trump also weighed in on the ongoing controversy surrounding his campaign's possible ties to Russia on Saturday morning.
In reply to a Fox & Friends tweet saying that the firm behind the explosive Trump-Russia dossier also worked for Russia, Trump tweeted, "In other words, Russia was against Trump in the 2016 Election - and why not, I want strong military & low oil prices. Witch Hunt!"

Meet 15 Year old CEO who just signed a mega business deal with the NBA

Mo's Bows' 15-year-old CEO Moziah Bridges, pictured, is "a cool guy who makes cool ties."

Mo Bridges founded his tie company  Bows when he was 9 years old, and he and his mom have developed it into a fast-growing business.
When asked how his deal with the NBA came about, Mo's Bows' 15-year-old founder and CEO Moziah Bridges told Business Insider that the league learned about him and "they decided I was a cool guy who makes cool ties."
Bridges, who runs his Memphis-based tie company with his mom Tramica Morris, inked a seven-figure, one-year licensing deal with the NBA in May to produce bow ties for all 30 professional basketball teams.
It marks a new chapter for Bridges and Morris, who were introduced to millions of viewers when they appeared on "Shark Tank" in 2013. Bridges told the story of how he decided that he wanted to start making his own bow ties. He'd had a dapper sense of style and love of fashion for as long as he could remember, and his grandmother, a retired seamstress, taught him how to cut and sew fabric. Soon, his mom helped him build a business around his creations.
Bridges primarily sketches designs and works with an in-house graphic designer to refine them.
Since 2011, Mo's Bows has brought in $600,000 in sales, a three-fold increase since the last "Shark Tank" update in early 2015. The company now has seven full-time employees in addition to Bridges and Morris, and the company's ties are hand-made in Memphis.
Morris said that at this point she and Bridges are working on acquiring more licensing deals on the scale of its collaboration with the NBA, as well as developing Bridges as a business leader.
Bridges gave his first speech back in 2011, but in the past year has gone on a full-blown public speaking circuit, focusing on inspiring other kids to become entrepreneurs. He's given speeches around the US and gave his first speech abroad last year, in Germany. He has one in Spain coming up in September.
Each year he creates a bow tie where all proceeds go toward a charity, and he and Morris recently finalized a deal with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Bridges is planning on having a complete fashion line by the time he's 20 years old, and wants to attend the Parsons School of Design in New York City. He's already begun adding new clothing and apparel to Mo's Bows, including neck ties, pocket squares, T-shirts, and hats.

Mr Ibu says many people just assume his a foolish man

John Okafor, aka Mr. Ibu, commands a huge fan base and he is in fact one of the most popular actors in the country.

While many may be willing to trade their limbs for the type of fame Mr. Ibu has, the comic actor is not entirely happy about his status.

He told newsmen, “A lot of people think I’m stupid and foolish because of the roles I play in movies. At times, when I have something meaningful to say, people don’t take me serious as they think I’m cracking jokes.

People also think that I’m an illiterate but that’s not true. I come from a humble background and I struggled a lot while growing up. My parents weren’t well-to-do so I had to hustle to get whatever I wanted by myself. We were basically living from hand to mouth and our situation was quite pathetic. However, despite our lack, I still considered education as a priority and I always had it at the back of my mind that I would keep learning. I attended the Institute of Management and Technology for my tertiary education though I was a part-time student.”

Continuing, he said, “Due to lack of funds, there were times I had to stop schooling, but I always continued after sometime. What a lot of people don’t know about me is that I’m a deep thinker and I like to meditate on issues. For example, I have a lot of plans for Nollywood and I hope the government can pay more attention to this sector.

93 year old President Mugabe says he will never step down

Zimbabwe’s President, Robert Mugabe, said on Saturday he was not stepping down nor dying.

He said there was no one with his political stature who could immediately take over from him.

The 93-year-old leader has been in charge in the former British colony since independence in 1980.

His health is closely watched by Zimbabweans, who fear the country could face chaos if he dies without anointing a successor.

Mugabe told tens of thousands of supporters at a rally in the town of Chinhoyi, in his home province, that doctors were recently surprised by his “strong bone system.”

He has travelled to Singapore three times this year for what officials said is routine medical treatment.

“There is the issue that the president is going. I am not going,” Reuters quoted Mugabe as saying to supporters on the grounds of a local university, 100 km (60 miles) west of the capital Harare.

“The president is dying. I am not dying. I will have an ailment here and there but bodywise, all my internal organs are very firm, very strong.”

Mugabe, who looks frail, had walked onto the stage slowly but without assistance.

The issue of who will succeed the veteran Zimbabwean leader has deeply divided the ruling party, with two factions supporting Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Mugabe’s wife, Grace.

Grace had on Thursday challenged Mugabe to name his preferred successor, to end divisions over the future leadership of ZANU-PF.

She repeated the call on Saturday, adding that Mugabe would lead the process to choose his eventual successor.

The Body on Kim Khardashian's mum sha! Wow at 61 and after 6 kids

Insanity! Man kills his wife just because she laughed at him

A man who has been charged with the murder of his wife told a witness that he did it because his wife won’t stop laughing at him.

FBI officials identified the murdered woman as 39-year-old Kristy Manzanares from Utah. She was murdered on Tuesday in what was described as a domestic violence incident aboard a cruise ship off the coast of Alaska, Fox13now.com reported.

The victim’s husband, Kenneth Manzanares, was arrested and charged with murder.

The incident occurred around 9 p.m. Tuesday. The Princess Cruise ship, Emerald Princess, was in the middle of a seven-day Alaskan cruise, but after the incident it was diverted and docked in Juneau.

According to an FBI agent involved in an investigation of the case, a witness entered the couple’s cabin and found Kenneth Manzanares with blood on his hands and clothing.

“She would not stop laughing at me,” Kenneth Manzanares told the witness, according to a search warrant affidavit. The couple have three children together.

According to the Alaska Dispatch, the man was seen trying to drag his wife’s body to the balcony before he was stopped by a witness.

A security officer aboard the cruise ship handcuffed Manzanares and detained him in an adjoining cabin, the affidavit said.

“My life is over,” Kenneth Manzanares spontaneously told investigators as he was being searched for physical evidence, according to the affidavit.

Cruise passengers told Fox13.com that they heard the couple fighting around 9 p.m. on Tuesday. Shortly after, screams echoed through the hallways of the Emerald Princess.

Later, the captain made an announcement over the intercom.

“He was very worked up, he said, ‘Everyone, we need all medical, security, all personnel to deck 9 and deck 14’, and that scared me because I’m on deck 14,” recounted Megan Morr, a passenger on the Emerald Princess.

According to KSTU, passengers say they heard two men and a woman fighting on their balcony, an argument they say then continued on in the hallway.

“People were running through the hall with blood all over them and trying to get security,” Morr said.

Passengers say they didn’t know the 39-year-old Utah woman was dead in a room. All they saw was a man trying to jump off the ship.

“They were on deck 7 and he tried to run up to deck 9 to jump off the ship, but security grabbed him before he could jump,” Morr said.

An announcement came the next morning, informing passengers there was an unexpected change to their cruise itinerary.

The FBI has not confirmed any of the information Morr shared with KSTU.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and all those impacted by this tragic event,” Princess Cruises said in a statement.

Senate accuses MTN of moving $14bn out of Nigerian, holds Stanbic IBTC accountable

The senate report reads in part: “No doubt there is a disturbing evidence of Foreign exchange ‎hemorrhage in Nigeria especially in this period of recession.
“MTN Nigeria for instance repatriated over $1.3 billion annually since 2006, or $13.92 billion between 2006 and 2016.
“Just for one company, the phenomenon constitutes a huge outflow that could pose challenges for Foreign exchange and National monetary ‎stability”.

The Senate also directed the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, to sanction Stanbic IBTC for improper documentation in respect of capital repatriation and loan repayment amounting to $388 million and $199 million respectively.

Widow gives birth for late husband years after his death

Three years after his death, NYPD Officer, Wenjian Liu’s wife, Pie Xia Chen has made him a father.
Wenjian was shot and killed on December 20, 2014 as he sat in a patrol car with another officer.
According to New York Daily News, the couple wasn’t married for longer than three months before 32-year-old Wenjian’s life was cut short.
The night he was killed, his wife asked for his semen to be preserved – which is what resulted to the birth of their baby girl named Angelina.
Chen said she had a dream on that same night where her husband handed a baby girl to her.
When she found out she was pregnant, she had confidently told her friend that she will be having a girl even without finding out the baby’s sex.
Her late husband’s mum, Xiu Yan Li, said the baby looks like both parents and she’s very happy as she sees her son in her grandchild.
Wenjian’s parents say the baby looks like her parents
‘She looks like my daughter-in-law. But this part, the eyes, and the forehead, looks like my son.
‘The top of the face looks like my son. The bottom looks like her mother. The head looks exactly like my son. I see my son in her,’ she said.

Say what! Nigerian sex workers plead with FG to legalize prostitution

The Nigerian Sex Workers Association has called on the Federal Government to decriminalise prostitution, saying such would curb the spread of HIV.

The association added that HIV infection had continued to increase because the government treated prostitution as a crime.

It stated that law enforcement agents, especially the police, consequently harassed sex workers and sometimes demand sex without using condoms.

The National Coordinator of the association, Amaka Enemo, said this in Abuja on Wednesday during an interview with journalists at the presentation of a report titled, ‘Understanding the High Risk of Urban Sexual Networks in Nigeria.’

Enemo was said to have played an active role in gathering information for the report, which was compiled by the National Agency for the Control of AIDS, the University of Manitoba, United States, and the World Bank.

She said, “Sex workers face violence, especially from their clients and law enforcement agents. Sex work is seen as a crime and the police raid streets and brothels to arrest sex workers. They collect money and if the girl cannot pay money, she will have to give sex to the policemen. If the law enforcer does not want to use condom, the sex worker has to agree and this is why HIV is on the increase.

“So, in this study, all the sex workers we interacted with said their biggest trouble was law enforcers.”

The 36-year-old said several studies had shown that countries where prostitution is not illegal had lower cases of sexually transmitted diseases, while Nigeria, where it is illegal, had one of the highest rates of HIV in the world.

She said sex work should be made legal, and government should not saddle sex workers with the responsibility of paying tax.

Enemo said, “When I visited Amsterdam (Holland), I was able to visit the red light district where sex workers work because prostitution is legal there. I have also visited New Zealand where they have decriminalised sex work.

“When you decriminalise it, there will be less exploitation of sex workers and the violence will reduce.”

Emeno said since HIV is a communicable disease and had no cure, sex workers should be given proper treatment and not victimised.

She said an infected sex worker could directly or indirectly infect as many as 100 people, adding that the government must not hound, but partner them.

Emeno added, “Decriminalise the work so that all of us will be healthy. It might interest you to know that Nigeria has the second highest risk of HIV worldwide and we are hoping to get to zero before 2030.

“How can it end when the drivers of the epidemic are being criminalised?”

In his remarks, the Director, Strategic Knowledge Management, NACA, Dr Kayode Ogungbemi, said sex workers must be taken seriously since married men also patronised them.

He said the message of use of protection must also be taken to mega stores and other places where sexual relationships began.

Ogungbemi added, “This report looks at the history of casual sex, transactional sex and commercial sex. If we do not reach these women, the infection will continue to spread. So, we must teach these women the use of condoms and going for HIV tests because if we don’t do that, they will continue to spread it. Even married people patronise them.”

Ryan Seacrest reveals how he landed the ''American Idol'' gig that changed his life at age 28

null

Ryan Seacrest of “American Idol” fame shares the story of how he first got his gig as the show's host. Following is a transcript of the video.
ALYSON SHONTELL: Take me back to getting the first “Idol” gig. And that was really your breakthrough moment, it seemed like. How did you audition for it? Walk me through that process of landing that in the first place.
RYAN SEACREST: There was already a host for the show and I auditioned to be the co-host and I remember they were looking for people — around the country they were doing auditions for the host and as I went into one meeting, they actually started the meeting by talking to me about being a judge for the show and I said, “let me audition to be a host.” And I auditioned, and I got the job and then I got asked back. So, and it happened very fast. I remember I auditioned on a Friday and I think I started working on a Saturday. Nothing ever happens as planned.
Well, I mean, Simon — he created the show and he created a show with a certain vision and I think my job has always been and, and is to be someone that that moves something along, but also the key to being a part of it and being a successful part of it is also not putting yourself in front of everything, too.
I mean like I lay back, I stand back, let moments happen. And, I'm not the star of the show. The artist that is competing to win is the star of the show. And once you understand that dynamic then hopefully you get to stick around.
SHONTELL: One thing I read in The Hollywood Reporter piece was that there was actually some fierce salary negotiations going on. At one point you maybe thought about walking away with removing your name from being in consideration. So, talk me through the salary negotiations and tips you might have for helping others get what they need.
SEACREST: Well, I think the priority in anything is always the product and the quality of the product and that has been at the top of the list ever since we've talked about bringing back “Idol” — ever since I said on “Idol” at the end, “for now, goodbye for now.” So that's been what we've been focused on the most and I think that when you, when you have a, a great show, a great product, great storytelling, then it works and that's what we're focused on, so.
SHONTELL: But you didn't answer my negotiations for salary thing.
SEACREST: I’m negotiating the answer.
SHONTELL: Okay, fine. I'll let you skirt around that one just because we are short on time. You're lucky.

John Fashanu allegedly arrested over a 10M land scam

John Fashanu was left in a Nigerian jail pen with 200 others after being held over an alleged dodgy land deal, police have revealed. The former Wimbledon and England star spent two days locked up as officers investigated claims he acted as a fixer in a scam to sell plots that were not for sale.

He was arrested at his home on the Sun City Estate, in the capital Abuja, and taken in on suspicion of “criminal conspiracy”, detectives said. It is alleged that earlier this year the former I’m a Celeb favourite acted for a friend looking to buy land.

pal claims he was told by Fashanu, 54, of two contacts who would help with buying “forgotten lands” – plots owned by chiefs that the state were unaware of. He was allegedly given £23,000 in cash to fix the deal with his “boys”. .

But when the new “owner” went to claim his land, it is alleged he found it not for sale and not in the hands of local chiefs. Fash was taken before a superintendent last week to explain himself before being left in a packed pen, police sources said.

Officers are now looking for the other two men said to be involved. Fashanu has agreed to pay the money back, although he denies wrongdoing. It is understood Fashanu was released after surrendering his British passport and agreeing to pay back a first instalment of the money.

Nigerian police Deputy Inspector General Hyacinth Dagala said: “John Fashanu was arrested on July 17 in connection with an allegation of criminal conspiracy and obtaining the sum of N9,550,000 under false pretence.

Late Linkin Park Singer Chester Bennington's widow releases an emotional statement

Chester and Talinda Bennington at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards.

Last week, Chester Bennington, a member of the band Linkin Park, killed himself. On Friday, Bennington's wife and mother of their three children, Talinda Bennington, released a statement provided by the band's publicist in response to his death:
"One week ago, I lost my soulmate and my children lost their hero – their Daddy. We had a fairytale life and now it has turned into some sick Shakespearean tragedy. How do I move on? How do I pick up my shattered soul? The only answer I know is to raise our babies with every ounce of love I have left. I want to let my community and the fans worldwide know that we feel your love. We feel your loss as well. My babies are so young to have lost their daddy. And I know that all of you will help keep his memory alive. He was a bright, loving soul with an angel's voice. And now he is pain-free singing his songs in all of our hearts. May God bless us all and help us turn to one another when we are in pain. Chester would've wanted us to do so. Rest In Peace, my love."

Jeff Bezo surpasses Bill Gates to take the spot of the world's richest person

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos on Thursday became the world’s richest person, as a jump in the share price of the US tech giant enabled him to overtake Microsoft founder Bill Gates, Forbes magazine estimated.

The magazine said its real-time tracking of personal fortunes showed Bezos with a net worth of $90.5 billion, ahead of the $90 billion for Gates.

Bezos owns around 17 percent of the equity of Amazon, which has been expanding from its original mission as an online retailer to a diversified tech firm in cloud computing, online video, computing hardware and artificial intelligence.

The company also recently announced plans to acquire US grocer Whole Foods, which could help Amazon expand in that sector.

Amazon shares were up 1.7 percent at $1,070.72 and have risen some 24 percent over the past four months, adding some $17 billion to the net worth of the 53-year-old Bezos.

According to Forbes, Gates has been the richest person in the magazine’s annual rankings in March for the past four years and 18 of the past 22 years. Mexican telecom magnate Carlos Slim overtook Gates from 2010 to 2013.

Among the billionaires gaining ground is Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, who has an estimated worth of some $72.9 billion.

While most of Bezos’s wealth is in Amazon, he also owns the private space firm Blue Origin and the Washington Post newspaper.

Angelina Jolie reveals she was recently diagnosed with Bell's Palsy

Angelina Jolie’s most recent interview with Vanity Fair the 42-year-old actress  revealed that she was recently diagnosed with Bell’s palsy.
Bell's palsy is a form of facial paralysis that results from damage or trauma to the facial nerves, according to the National Institutes of Health.
Symptoms can include twitching, weakness, or paralysis on one or both sides of the face—but luckily, in most cases, it's only temporary, according to the NIH. The condition affects around 40,000 Americans each year.
Dr. David Putrino, Assistant Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, says that Bell’s palsy occurs when the cranial nerves (which “are responsible for a lot of the functions that go on in our head, mouth, throat and face”) are damaged on one side of the body.
“When a nerve like the facial nerve is damaged, it has to heal, and nerve healing takes a long time: Nerves heal at a rate of roughly six millimeters (just less than a quarter inch) every week,” Putrino says of the recovery process. “Once the process of nerve healing begins, however, physical therapy becomes very important to help the muscles of facial expression and facial sensation recover normally as the nerve heals and re-innervates its old territory.”
In the interview, Angelina credits acupuncture with helping her make a full recovery. But while many patients, like Angelina, seek alternative therapies like vitamins and acupuncture for faster results, Putrino is quick to say that “none of these methods have solid scientific evidence to back them yet.”
The actress also implied that her Bell's palsy may have been brought on by stress, noting that she also developed hypertension, dry skin, and started noticing more gray hairs. She told Vanity Fair, "Sometimes women in families put themselves last, until it manifests itself in their own health."
Putrino says there's no science directly linking Bell's palsy and stress. However, “hormonal changes and high stress may be responsible for triggering things like viral reactivation, or make you more susceptible to bacterial infections, all of which can lead to Bell's palsy,” he explains.
Some of the things that can cause Bell’s palsy, according to Putrino, include “reactivation of viruses such as Epstein Barr or herpes simplex, certain bacterial infections, or even physical damage to the nerves because of trauma or growth of a tumor.”

I will Trek from Abuja to Maiduguri if Shekau is captured says Muslim cleric

A 37-year-old Islamic cleric, Ali Ahmad, has vowed to trek from Abuja to Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, should the wanted Boko Haram terrorist, Abubakar Shekau is captured.

Ahmad said he would take it upon himself to trek the 844 kilometer journey to celebrate the Nigerian troops if they succeed in bringing the ‘heartless’ insurgent down.

The distance between Abuja and Maiduguri is measured 844.71 kilometers, approximately 70 miles per hour.

His promise is coming on the heels of the recent order by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai to the troops fighting Boko Haram in the Northeast to arrest Shekau within 40 days, either dead or alive.

Ahmad made this revelation while speaking during the prayer organised on Wednesday by some religious bodies to render Boko Haram spiritual base useless.

The religious bodies said they would be embarking on a 40-day prayer and fasting for God to end the reign of insurgency in Nigeria.

Speaking at the Unity Fountain on Wednesday, Ahmad, who claimed to be a native of Gudumbali village in Guzamala LGA of Borno State, said he lost one of his wives and two children to an attack carried out by the Boko Haram insurgents on a Monday Market in Maduguri in January 2015.

Ahmad said he decided to relocate from Borno after the deadly attack.

Speaking in Hausa, the emotion-laden man said he has not been able to get back on his feet since the attack, which destroyed his shop and goods worth millions of naira.

“I was doing fine with my family in Maiduguri until January 2015 when the Boko Haram members attacked the Monday Market and killed several people.

“I was in Kano that day to buy goods when I got a call from my house that my wife, Zaina and two sons have been killed by bomb blast. I lost everything I had and I had no choice than to move my remaining family to my village in Gudumbali. From there I moved to Abuja,” he said.

The father of three, who attributed the cause of his misfortunes to the activities of Shekau and his men, said he would be the joyous person if the extremist is eventually captured.

“I am ready to trek from Lagos to Maiduguri if he is arrested. I don’t mind my age and strength. Shekau is an evil man and deserves to die. He will not go unpunished,” Ahmad added.

Ahmad, while acknowledging the efforts of the military in restoring peace back to the volatile community, said the battle is now between God and evil and that’s why the prayer for the soldiers is very important.

He said, “Our military deserves all the support and encouragement from spiritual and political leadership of the country to totally wipe away their tears in the north eastern part  of the country. It will be everyone’s joy to see Shekau in chains.”
