Huh! Man dumps Lady after she gave him N1.9M to marry her

A 29-year old man, Mr Ebuka Okeke has been arrested and charged before a Lagos court for allegedly obtaining N1.9m from a single lady identified as Ogochukwu Ogbuehi under the false pretence that he will marry her.

According to PM Express, apart from obtaining the money, Okeke brought a baked cake and made her take an oath that she will not tell anyone that he collected the said money to marry her.

The incident happened between March and July this year at the Iyana Ipaja area of Lagos where the suspect and the complainant reside.

The suspect also went to the victim’s shop and drank assorted drinks worth N20,000 without paying at the same period.

However, it turned out that it was a scam and ploy Okeke used to obtain money from her as he did not fulfill his own side of the bargain.

Ogochukwu waited for Okeke to come and perform the marriage rites as they agreed but he was not forthcoming. She asked to know why he had not fulfilled his promise and he gave flimsy excuses. The lady then demanded for her money but he refused giving her back.

The matter was reported to the Police at Area M Command, Idimu. Okeke was then arrested and taken to the Command for interrogation.

Okeke admitted that he collected the said amount from her and also promised to marry her. He said he found it difficult to convince his family to accept the lady because she was far older than him. He also explained that he had spent the money and asked to be given time to pay her in bits.

Okeke was charged before Ejigbo Magistrates court for obtaining under false pretence and placing the victim under false oath.

He pleaded not guilty and the presiding Magistrate, Mr Akeem Fashola granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum. He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect the bail condition and the matter was further adjourned till 18th of October, 2017.

Policeman framed man for Robbery because I reused to have S*X with him says Lady

A 27-year-old trader, Mrs. Victoria Amodu, told an Ikeja High Court, Lagos that an Investigative Police Officer (IPO) at the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Ikeja Division, demanded s*x from her to release her from custody.

Amodu, a mother of four, gave the testimonies  as a defence witness in her trial for alleged conspiracy and armed robbery, before Justice Kudirat Jose.

The defendant, who denied the allegation, was arraigned alongside one Hammed Isiaka on a six-count charge of conspiracy to commit robbery and armed robbery, contrary to Section 295(2)(a) of the Criminal Law No 11 Laws of Lagos State, 2011.

One of the charges reads, “Hammed Isiaka, Victoria Amodu and others now at large, on or about August 12, 2014 while armed with a pistol did rob one Elizabeth Moses of a cash sum of N35, 000 and a cheque of N1.4m.”

However, while being led in evidence by her counsel, Nelson Onyejaka, Amodu told Justice Jose that she was unjustly arrested by the police on August 12, 2014 at Church Bus stop, Badagry, Lagos. She said she was selling bread at the bus stop when policemen raided the area, arrested her and others and bundled them into their truck, where they met some men who were already tied up.

Narrating the incident, Amodu said: “I was arrested by the police while I was selling bread and taken to the station at SARS, Ikeja. An IPO (name not mentioned) there told me to call someone that would come for my bail. I called a neighbour, a lady that helps me look after my kids. When she arrived, the IPO said a woman could not sign my bail bond, which he put at N400,000.

I became worried because I didn’t know any man to call since I was no longer living with my husband and I was also new in Lagos. I decided to call my father but he refused coming to the station. He said since I was married he had no hand in anything concerning me.

“I didn’t know what else to do at this time, so I started begging the IPO to let me go and take care of my kids since I didn’t commit any offence. The IPO took me outside the cell to a corner and said that I am a pretty lady and that if I submit myself to him, I would be freed. I got angry and shouted at him, asking why he would make such a statement to me. He immediately, dragged me back to the cell. Some others who were arrested that day were released after they paid money, though I don’t know how much they paid.

“Nights after, the IPO brought out some case files and told me and others in the cell to sign them. He said that when we were done signing, we would be released. I agreed to sign the documents on the condition that he would not touch me. But the other men refused saying they couldn’t sign what they didn’t know.

“The IPO immediately brought out his gun and threatened to shoot them if they didn’t sign and they fearfully signed it. “After signing the documents, we were all taken to a Magistrates Court and from there, to Kirikiri Prison.”

Amodu pleaded with the court to tamper justice with mercy and permit her to go home to cater for her children.

During cross-examination by prosecution counsel, Mrs. Awosika, Amodu denied knowing the first defendant, Isiaka. She said she had never seen him before and only met him for the first time in court on the day of arraignment.

Isiaka, a driver, who also testified while being led by his counsel, Mrs. Olamide Amore-Akintoye, said he was arrested on his way from Seme border while carrying food items belonging to a customer. He said his car was impounded and taken to the station where he was locked up after he failed to pay for his release.

Justice José adjourned till November 29 for adoption of final addresses.

Kylie Jenner and Rob Kardashian sue Blac Chyna for attempting to strangle him to death

Rob Kardashian claims Blac Chyna attempted to choke him with an iPhone cord during an intense fight last December, according to a new lawsuit filed by the reality star and his sister Kylie Jenner against his ex-fiancĂ©.

Kardashian and Jenner who owns the home where the alleged altercation took place are suing Chyna for battery, assault and vandalism.
In the complaint filed Wednesday, Kardashian, 30, and Jenner, 20, claim they were forced to seek legal recourse against Chyna, 29, as they “endured several months of injuries” after Chyna’s “deliberate attempt to extort the Kardashian family for her own monetary gains.”

The complaint, obtained by PEOPLE, also claims Chyna’s relationship and decision to have a baby with Kardashian was “nothing short of an outright fraud to shake down the Kardashian family.”

In court documents, Kardashian claims that Chyna “became extremely intoxicated on drugs and alcohol and physically assaulted” him on Dec. 14, 2016.

First, Kardashian says, Chyna “conferenced” his friends on FaceTime, “and was carelessly playing with Rob’s gun unaware if the gun was loaded or if the safety was on.”

Later that night, Kardashian alleges Chyna “lunged towards Rob with an iPhone charging cable and attempted to strangle him with the cord around his neck.”

The father of one “was able to escape her grasp, however he suffered injuries to his neck” while Chyna “chased after Rob and repeatedly struck him in the head and face,” according to court documents.

The complaint says “Chyna pursued Rob outside the house as he tried to escape in his Bentley,” which caused her to throw “a nearby chair at Rob’s car causing damage to the vehicle and also used a metal rod to injure Rob.”

Couple confess to killing over 30 people and using their parts to make and sell meat pies

A suspected cannibal couple made human meat pies and sold them to restaurants, a shocking trial in Russia has revealed. The police are investigating the confession of Natalia Baksheeva and husband Dmitry Baksheev that they killed and ate 30 or more victims.

The couple lived in the grounds of a military academy run by the Russian Defence Ministry. Natalia is believed to have sold human meat to military trainees, including student pilots, attending the academy where she worked.

According to reports, human remains were found in their fridge, freezer and elsewhere in their home. One victim was waitress Elena Vashrushev, 35, who lived near them. Neighbours say Natalia, a former nurse, made and sold pies to boost her income.

Natalia at a point applied to work as a chef and offered to supply meat to a cafe in the city in 2010, according to Moskovsky Komsomolets. The Cafe owner, Vitaly Yakubenko, said, ” She was very active, asked lots of questions but mainly about where we buy our meat and fish and how fresh it is.

She made clear she could supply meat. I said that we work only with certified suppliers. The police should look now where this woman may have worked as a chef and if she tried to push her products there too.

For sure these cannibals were looking for places to sell their meat. It sounded to me like her main motive when she was looking for a job. Natalia told me she had experience working as a chef.”

UK journalist sues Sahara Reporters publisher for N100M

Sahara Reporters publisher, Omoyele Sowore

A UK based journalist and PR practitioner, Lekan Fatodu, is suing Sahara Reporters publisher, Omoyele Sowore, and demanding N100M for defamation.
In June, Mr Fatodu told Pulse during an exclusive interview that Soworewho was his friend for over two decades before they fell apart only recently--did vow to blackmail him if a bribe of N100M from a contract he executed with the Nigerian government, wasn’t paid him.
"Sowore demanded N100M from me as bribe. He said N1.7B was transferred to my account. That out of it, I got a share of N500M. He said that out of my share, I should give him N100M," Fatodu said.

He had added that: "Sowore told me that if I don't give him N100M from the infamous Sambo Dasuki loot, he'll run the story.
"Besides, what I executed for the Nigerian government at the time, was a legitimate business transaction which cost nowhere near N1.7B. I don't know where Sowore got his bogus figures from”.

According to Fatodu; “My case against Sowore and Sahara Reporters is peculiar because I am an ordinary citizen; not the usual public official who can easily be blackmailed into silence by Sowore using the online platform.
“But my concern is really for potential innocent victims of this criminality who may not have the guts to publicly defend and pursue a legal action in similar instances".

According to Fatodu; “Therefore I have started an advocacy against fake news which began in June with the first anti-fake news and anti-blackmail protest in Nigeria which was held in front of Sahara Reporters' Lagos office.

"And that has been followed with development of a good communication channel and skill service to help victims raise their issues and embolden them to stay strong in fighting their cases.
“The N100M being demanded for damages on my reputation will be used for a special purpose vehicle that is for the creation of Citizens Advise Bureau similar to what they have in the UK.

“But this will be established essentially to help the victims of blackmail, fake news and cyberbullying. And the figure is the same amount Sowore criminally demanded from me to stop him from publishing the defamatory story he cooked up against me. I want it to be a cross of shame he will carry in his heart for a long time to come".

"I am committed to following this matter to a favourable conclusion and getting justice which will be used as a strong warning to vicious blackmailers who parade themselves as online publishers and journalists,” he vowed.

Blac Chyna demands $10,000 from Rob Khardashian for posting her nudes on the Internet

Although Blac Chyna agreed Rob Kardashian will pay her $20,000 monthly for child support and also drop all allegations of abuse against him, she’s still not over the revenge porn drama.
Chyna is seeking a sum to settle with him over posting her nudes on the internet, claiming the pictures made it obvious she had a plastic surgery which made her lose a couple of weight loss endorsements.
An Insider tells RadarOnline, they met for the very first time since the whole drama happened in July.
‘Rob and Chyna didn’t speak to each other at all, Kris Jenner was the holdup in the deal. A settlement was discussed but Rob had to call his mom for approval for the deal, and she didn’t respond, Kris had to approve when Chyna was given $20,000 a month by Rob for Dream She controls everything for him.’
Chyna is requesting for $10,000 and isn’t afraid to file a lawsuit against him, all attempts to get him to comply failed which prompted her attorney Lisa Bloom’s message on twitter.
‘Do NOT disrespect my client. I got your back, @BlacChyna. Stay tuned for chapter 2, y’all’ the lawyer wrote.

I don't have time for people who claim it's hard to find talented woman in Hollywood says Shonda Rhimes

null

Business Insider sat down with Shonda Rhimes in New York City to discuss diversity in television, being a working mom and the future of her storytelling.
Shonda Rhimes has been a major force in television for over a decade.
Her first show for ABC, "Grey's Anatomy," aired in March 2005 as a mid-season replacement. It quickly became one of the most-watched (and talked about) shows on television, and starts its fourteenth season Thursday.
Rhimes went on to create "Private Practice," "Scandal," and
"How to Get Away with Murder." In August, Netflix announced an exclusive multi-year development deal with Rhimes, under which all of her future productions will be Netflix Originals.
Business Insider recently sat down with Rhimes in New York City to discuss the future of her storytelling, being a working mom, and the short film "Meet Diana," a collaboration with the soap brand Dove. "Meet Diana" tells the story of Diana Wright, a teacher and mother of two, who lost her leg in a car wreck.
In our interview, Rhimes talked about diversity  a word she says she hates  in television, how it's changing, and how it can continue to evolve and represent everyone in an authentic way. For this to happen, Rhimes says that diversity starts in the writers room. And although she hears people in the industry say it's hard to find women, people of color, and LGBTQ people who write for TV, it's actually not.
"It's almost like there's camouflage and they are not looking at them," she said. "I've never had a problem."
This interview has been edited and condensed for clarity.
Carrie Wittmer: Diana, [the subject of the short film] has been through so much. She lost her leg, but she's so confident and sure of herself. What did you learn from being around her?
Shonda Rhimes: She's a quiet energy. But that quiet energy is very powerful. She's very confident about who she is. And the fact that she has such presence and confidence. And you feel like she's always been that way. It was that fact that really drew me, and this idea that being that sure of herself comes from just who she's always been and then having this accident. A lot of people would've crumbled. I think I probably would have been in a corner somewhere thinking I can't do anything. It just made her more of who she was, as opposed to being a stumble or a hurdle or something.
Wittmer: I wanted to be her.
Rhimes: Right? I was like, if only I could spend more time with you, there's so much I could learn.
Wittmer: Is telling diverse stories  from Diana's to your shows  come naturally to you, or is that something that you're always thinking about? You have a character on "Grey's Anatomy" [Arizona Robbins, played by Jessica Capshaw] who, like Diana, has lost one of her legs in an accident.
Rhimes: I don't think I ever sought out the idea, "We're going to show a diverse group of people!" I wanted to see people on television who look like me, and I wanted to see people on television who look like my friends. And I didn't relate to a lot of the women on television because they didn't seem realistic. It was just about writing people I wanted to watch, and writing people who felt like the people I knew. That's what we ended up doing. So it's never about, "Well can we make a story about this kind of person?" Mostly, it's about the characters.

Here's who will likely inherit Late Hugh Hefner's $40 Million fortune

hugh hefner

Hugh Hefner, the founder of Playboy, died Wednesday at 91 leaving behind a brand worth millions and a fortune that accumulated, and dissipated, over decades.
Hugh Hefner, the founder of the Playboy empire, died
Wednesday evening at the age of 91, leaving behind a brand worth millions and a fortune that accumulated and dissipated over decades.
Hefner's wealth was widely estimated to be about $50 million at the time of his death, though the market researcher Wealth-X told Business Insider that Hefner was worth at least $110 million, with roughly $45 million in liquid assets.
According to The Telegraph, at the height of Playboy's success in the early 1970s, Hefner was reported to be worth about $200 million mostly owing to the popularity of the men's magazine that he founded in 1953.
The outlet reported that Hefner owned 35% of the Playboy brand at the time of his death. He also owned 100% of the magazine itself, the sales of which have declined severely over the years. (In 1999, Hefner's 70% ownership of Playboy stock was valued as high as $399 million, according to The Telegraph.)
The question of who will inherit Hefner's wealth is somewhat nebulous since it is unclear what his will entailed.
Hefner has four surviving children, including his daughter, Christie Hefner, who was the CEO of Playboy Enterprises for two decades until 2008. Cooper Hefner, his 26-year-old son, is Playboy's chief creative officer.
The Mirror reported that Crystal Hefner, Hefner's 31-year-old wife of five years, would "inherit nothing" of her late husband's wealth because of an "iron-clad prenuptial agreement," but that she would be "looked after."
Us Weekly reported in 2013 that Hefner's wealth would be left to "his children, the University of Southern California film school, and a variety of charities."

Saudi Arabia appoints its first female spokes person

Saudi Arabia appointed its first female spokesperson at its embassy in Washington, hours after Saudi women were granted the right to drive.

“Proud to serve the @SaudiEmbassyUSA as the spokeswoman. I’m grateful for the opportunity, the support, and well wishes,” the spokeswoman, Fatimah Baeshen, wrote on Twitter.

Baeshen previously worked at the ministries of labour and economy between 2014 and 2017, according to the Saudi-owned Al Arabiya broadcaster.

She also worked as a consultant at the World Bank and the Islamic Development Bank.

On Tuesday, King Salman ordered the Interior Ministry to give “licences to women and men equally.”

The move, which will go into effect in June, comes after Saudi women and international rights groups have for several years campaigned to lift the ban, which was condemned as a symbol of oppression.

Saudi Arabia is dominated by the puritanical Wahhabi school of Islam, but the kingdom has been introducing slow-paced change.

Saudi women were allowed to vote and run as candidates in the municipal elections for the first time in 2015.

King Salman recently ordered an end to the long-standing guardianship rule, which denied women access to government services if they did not have a male relative’s consent.

Meet Nkem a UI Graduate who taps and sells palm wine for a living

Nkem Okechukwu is a brilliant Nigerian whose journey took an unexpected turn after he graduated from the prestigious University of Ibadan (UI). The young man resorted to the tapping and selling of local palmwine after he tried hard to find a job.

Read his interesting story below:

NAIJ had an exclusive chat with Nkem who was recommended by his wife. She listed him as one of the bravest men she has ever known with his decision to use his skills and not give in to the evil vices in the society. Nkem’s story is not just touching; it is inspiring as the impatient graduates in the society can learn one or two things from him.

He has done his best in creating a job for himself while waiting for fate to deliver that dream job unto him. Most importantly, he is not idle and he's impacting the lives of those around him positively.
"I am known as Nkem Okechukwu Confidence. I was born in November 1987. I am the last child of seven children and come from a very humble family. I attended University of Ibadan between 2010 to 2014, where I got a degree in Communication and Language Arts (CLA).
National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) was the next thing for me. I started my service at Government Day Secondary school at Pupule, Yorro local government area of Taraba before I moved on to Imade College in Owo local government area of Ondo state."

How did you start selling palm wine? Whose idea was it?
Selling palm wine was nobody's idea. It was something I thought about by myself. Notwithstanding, the real idea came from the popular music of no employment.

Tell us about the things you do asides being a palm wine tapper and seller?
I do not do much asides tapping palm wine. It could be exhausting so I sleep whenever am tired! Have you been able to generate funds from the sales? How much do you make per day? Concerning fund generation, palm wine tapping and selling is quite lucrative as tedious as it is. I make an average of ten to fifteen thousand naira daily.

What major challenges have you tried to overcome since you began?
The only challenge I have been battling with is rain. Tapping palm wine when it is raining is quite difficult. Rain disrupts the supply of palm wine from the tree. I end up tapping twice on a normal day. You either get drenched in the rain or sit back at home.

What major progress have you recorded since you started?
With palm wine, I have been able to take good care of myself and my immediate family. Also, I have been able to buy a car and some plots of land right here in Owo and in my village, Okpoto, in Ebonyi.

How do you feel with your choice of work when you run into your colleagues?
I am not intimidated by anyone. Tapping and selling palm wine is something most people are not willing to do. They look down on those doing it as they do not know it pays. Sincerely, tapping and selling palm wine pays a great deal.

What is your future ambition now?
My ambition is to change my line of business and go into a bigger and less stressful venture. I am working on starting something soon.

What have you to say to other people struggling out there?
I basically want the young ones out there to know that those who make it are those who are tough. It is important for them to use what they have to work towards getting that which they do not have.

Funny enough, l started this palm wine business with less than twenty thousand naira; the story is different today as I make more than seventy thousand naira per week. So, do not wait to have a million naira in your account before you start something.

What would you like to be remembered for?
I want people to only remember me for being good. Lucky Dube already sang about it when he asked people to do good unto those they meet up the ladder as they would be needed when descending.

Mexican male beauty contest was cancelled. Because entrees were too Ugly

The “Mr. Model Tabasco 2017” male beauty contest was supposed to bring together the most handsome men in the Mexican state of Tabasco, but the modeling agency behind the event recently announced its cancellation, after failing to find candidates that met their beauty requirements.

An aggrieved investor is suing Uber, alleging that the comapny's value has plunged because of the scandals

null

The lawsuit claims that Uber made misleading statements about its business to drum up billions of dollars in investment.
Irving Firemen's Relief & Retirement Fund filed the lawsuit in California federal court on Tuesday. The lawsuit does not say how much Irving Firemen's Relief & Retirement Fund is suing for, but alleges that Uber has lost at least $18 billion in private market value as a result of a series of scandals and controversies.
The retirement fund invested $2 million in Uber at a $62.5
billion valuation in February 2016, according to the Wall Street Journal. The retirement fund invested its money through a Morgan Stanley fund.
"In a span of only a few months a shocking litany of corporate misconduct came to the fore, and investors learned startling truths about the willingness of Uber’s C-Suite executives to flout local, national and international law, stifle competition, misappropriate trade secrets and seek vengeance against detractors," the suit claims. "The Company’s vaunted corporate culture was revealed to in truth consist of a toxic hotbed of misogyny, sexual discrimination, and disregard for the law that threatened the Company’s reputation, business and prospects."
The suit specifically cites practices Uber used to track its rivals and deceive authorities which Uber called Helland Greyball respectively  claiming that these tactics threatened the health of Uber's business.
"Kalanick and Uber failed to disclose that, in order to show strong short-term growth, the Company was employing and plotting to employ a variety of illicit business tactics that threatened Uber’s business, reputation and long-term prospects," the suit claims.

YBEEEZ on graduation day

The story of YBEEEZ spreading on Twitter is like a story of a man whose strong will pushed him to achieve his dream despite the hurdles standing in his way like a high prison wall.
The high prison wall was certainly standing on YBEEEZ's way years back but he made effort to make himself a better person after leaving the prison yard for classroom.
On Twitter, @YBEEEZ became an instant celebrity on Tuesday, September 26, when he announced his academic breakthrough and the frustrating ordeal he went through before he became an academic champion in just 140 characters.
YBEEEZ says "Graduated with a 1st class in economics in the same city they sentenced me in 4yrs prior. Give yourself a second chance even if they don't."

The offence for which he was sentenced to prison for four years is not stated but the tweet sounds like he was wrongly accused.
The tweets garnered over five thousand retweets and over nine thousand likes as twitter users keep pumping encomium on him for his resilience.

Saudi Arabia to remove ban on women been allowed to Drive

Saudi Arabia says it will allow women to drive for the first time in the ultra-conservative kingdom.

The kingdom, which announced the change recently, Saudi was only the country in the world to bar women from driving and for years had garnered negative publicity internationally for detaining women who defied the ban.

Women’s rights activists since the 1990s have been pushing for the right to drive, saying it represents their larger struggle for equal rights under the law.

The state-run Saudi Press Agency and state TV reported the news late Tuesday evening, saying a royal order was issued for both men and women to be issued drivers’ licenses. A committee will be formed to look into how to implement the new order.

Kidnappers are scaring away investors away from the country says Dangote

Africa’s richest man and President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has raised the alarm over insecurity in the country, particularly kidnapping, saying investors are being scared away from the country.

Dangote made this known at the ongoing Agric Expo and Conference, organised by Nigeria Agribusiness Group in collaboration with other private and public sector agencies.

Represented by Executive Director, Public Sector, Dangote Group, Mosul Ahmed, who spoke on ‘Challenges Facing Agribusiness Investors in Nigeria.’ He lamented the spate of kidnapping on the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway, which he said has made investors, who own commercial farms to practically abandon them for fear of being attacked or kidnapped. It will be recalled that kidnapping has been on the increase across the country, particularly the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway, forcing the Inspector General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris to deploy a large number of policemen on that axis.

He said: “The security situation in the country is discouraging agribusiness investors. Most of the people that own large farms on the Kaduna-Abuja Road have abandoned their farms due to the menace of kidnapping.” He also lamented bottlenecks in access to land by agribusiness investors, which he traced to the Land Use Act, and cautioned that if the Act was not revisited, it will impede the expected and desired diversification of the economy. He therefore, advised that government at all levels should begin to work together, where necessary, on proactive approach, particularly on securing land for commercialised agriculture.

He also accused governments at all levels of lack of cooperation and protection of investors in the agricultural sector, noting that there is no synergy on inter-governmental relationship for better performance and productivity by the sector.

“Agriculture cannot thrive in this country, except there is cooperation between all the agencies of government. Inter-governmental cooperation is lacking in terms of galvanising the kind of support that investors need in the sector,” he stated.

Game of Thrones stars Kit Harington & Rose Leslie are engaged

Kit Harington and Rose Leslie are engaged

A source confirmed the happy news to PEOPLE magazine.
The pair first caught the attention of viewers, while stirring up relationship rumours in 2012 at the same time as their fictional Game of Thrones characters, Jon Snow and Ygritte.

Although reports revealed that the pair split a year into their relationship, they later got back together and picked up from where they left off, fueling romance speculation until they officially confirmed their relationship in April of 2016.
They made their red carpet debut as a couple at the Olivier Awards in London.
One month after their relationship was made public, 30-yr-old Harington, opened up about the early days of their romance, which we now know began on set while shooting in Iceland for season 2.

He admitted that those weeks were his favourite in the serie.
“Because the country is beautiful, because the Northern Lights are magical, and because it was there that I fell in love,” he said in a cover story for L’Uomo Vogue. “If you’re already attracted to someone, and then they play your love interest in the show, it becomes very easy to fall in love.”
