Swaziland's King reveals his 19 year old bride who is his 14th wife

Swaziland’s King Mswati III, has officially unveiled a new bride, his 14th wife, Siphelele Mashwama, 19, the daughter of a Swaziland Cabinet minister, Jabulile Mashwama.

The new bride who graduated from Swaziland’s Waterford Kamhlaba World University College, is in currently in New York, where the king is attending the United Nations General Assembly.

He picked Sphelele as his 14th wife, during the annual Reed Dance ceremony early this month. It’s a common tradition in Swaziland for the king to choose a wife every year.

The Reed Dance ceremony is an annual tradition held in August or September, where unmarried ladies travel to Ludzidzini to participate in the 8-day event and would-be brides are publicly checked to ascertain that their virginity is still intact.
