AKEREDOLU EMERGES AS THE WINNER OF THE ONDO STATE GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION


Barrister Rotimi Akeredolu has been announced the winner of the Ondo governorship election by INEC.

The candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Rotimi Akeredolu has emerged the winner of the governorship election in Ondo State.

Akeredolu was announced the winner by the Chief Returning Officer of INEC, Prof. Abdul Ganiyu Ambali of the University of Ilorin on Sunday, 27 November 2016.
The APC candidate polled 237,812 votes to defeat PDP’s Eyitayo Jegede,who polled 145,367 votes and AD’s Olusola Oke who polled 104,111 votes in the keenly contested election.
Akeredolu, a former NBA chairman, was unavailable for the highly anticipated debate amongst contestants, which was held by Channels TV.

A week before the governorship election, President Muhammadu Buhari had led seven APC governors and other chieftains to Ondo State to rally support for the APC candidate in the contest.
Here are the results as announced by INEC so far for 17 Local Government Areas results on Ondo Governorship Election 
APC:   237,812
PDP:   145,367
AD:     104,111
