Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, written by J.K. Rowling and directed by David Yates, has made $500m after just two weeks of its global release.
The Hollywood movie, which stars Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, with Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol in supporting roles, has made $161m domestically (the United States) and $344m internationally, exceeding the $500m mark worldwide.
The first instalment of the Fantastic Beasts series has made an entry into the top 10 list of 2016′s biggest domestic earners as a result.
With $505m worldwide, it is the 13th biggest global grosser of the year, with Kung Fu Panda 3 ($519m), X-Men: Apocalypse ($543m), and The Mermaid ($553m) on the list.
However, Suicide Squad ($745m) and Deadpool ($782m) remain the top earning movies of 2016.
