Nigerians are glad Beyonce played Fela Kuti's music at her lavish baby shower

It not to long before  Beyonce gives birth to her twins. And to celebrate the impending arrival, the 35-year-old superstar was thrown a 'push party' on Saturday in Beverly Hills, attended by her family and closest friends. Some of the famous faces joining in with the baby shower celebrations included Bey's BFF Kelly Rowland, her sister Solange, Michelle Williams, Serena Williams and LaLa Anthony. The Drunk In Love singer's mum Tina Lawson shared a video from inside the bash showing all her friends shouting: "Happy Carter Push Party!"

In the video she shared music playing in the background is no other than our Nigerian multi-instrumentalist and Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti. You will recall how she paid homage to Yoruba goddess, Yemoja, in a poem soon after announcing her pregnancy back in February.

Beyonce’s song writer, The-Dream revealed in a recent interview that he recorded an entire, unreleased album with Beyonce prior to 2011 LP 4, inspired by Fela. According to the producer behind hits “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)” and “Run The World (Girls),” the project was inspired by Nigerian Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti.

According to People magazine, Beyonce was proudly baring her belly at the party after being covered in henna tattoos.

While a source told E!: "The party was very family friendly with Blue Ivy and lots of her friends running around the grounds of the estate. There was a huge tent erected on the property where most of the shower took place. The decor was African themed and very colorful with lounge seating areas, floor pillows and rugs on the floor.
