44 Nigerians and Ghanaians die of thirst attempting to cross the Sahara desert

 A group of Nigerians and Ghanaians numbering about 44 have died of thirst in the Sahara desert. The group were illegally trying to migrate into Europe with about 17 women and three babies, Six survivors were able to make it to a nearby town on foot and are currently been treated.

Heartbreaking news has filtered in from the Sahara desert. At least 44 people, including Nigerians and Ghanaians have died of thirst after their truck broke down in the Sahara Desert in northern Niger as they attempted to reach Europe.
According to the Sahelien, a news website in the Niger, the victims were Nigerians and Ghanaians and were trying to enter Europe via Libya in North Africa on Tuesday, May 30.
The victims included three babies, two minor children and 17 women. Six survivors were able to make it to a nearby town on foot and are currently being treated at a migrant centre in Dirkou.

The Nigerien authorities were on their way to visit the scene and evacuate the bodies as at the time of this report.
