A woman was killed in a car crash in Malta few metres away from the same spot where her sister died in a similar accident 24 years ago. Janie Spiteri, a 45-year-old, died in a head-on vehicle collision in Triq Sir Temi Zammit in Mġarr on Sunday. .
Many people were shocked and left touching messages on Janie’s Facebook wall, but one particular post pointed out a terrible coincidence within her family. Janie’s sister Carmen had actually died a very similar death 24 years ago. .
Carmen was just 17 years old, and on a Sunday in August, she too was killed in a traffic accident. The collision that killed Carmen Turner happened on the 1st of August of 1993. .
“I hope you are smiling up there with Carmen, but I WILL HATE AUGUST AND SUNDAY FOREVER,” the post finished. Both victims were passengers when they died. Janie was the mother of three children, including a 3-year-old.
