FRSC rescues 17 trafficked children in kaduna

The Federal Road Safety Corps has impounded a vehicle used in child trafficking and rescued 17 of the trafficked children in Kaduna State.

The operatives were to arrest the vehicle for overloading and broken windscreen, only to discover that the occupants of the vehicle were suspected child traffickers with some 17 minors.

In a statement released by the Corps’ Head Media Relations and Strategy, Mr. Bisi Kazeem, he said the vehicle, a Ford Galaxy model with registration number LMU 76 XA, grey color, was travelling from Kano to an undisclosed location on Thursday, April 27, around 1155hrs, when the patrol team asked the driver of the said vehicle to stop.

The driver, however, refused to stop, which led to a chase towards Dutsenma junction, where he was forced to as the traffic light turned red. He was arrested, the vehicle impounded and taken to the FRSC base at No 12 Ahmadu Bello Way, Kaduna.

The operatives counted 17 minors and 3 adults (a driver, a woman and one other person), totalling 20 persons in the vehicle. This raised the team lead’s suspicion.

According to the Corps’ Sector Head of Operations in Kaduna who interviewed the driver, he could not convince the officers about their movement and the destination of the children.

Kazeem stated that the Corps Marshal, Boboye Oyeyemi, who got a report on the situation immediately directed that the case be reported to the Comptroller of Immigration, Kaduna State, who immediately deployed his personnel to take away the Vehicle and its occupants for further investigation at their Command.

The matter was subsequently transferred to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons for further investigation and necessary action.

To this end, Oyeyemi who approved of the release of the vehicle to NAPTIP to serve as an exhibit on their request, used the opportunity to stress the need for constant inter-agency collaboration to foster security of lives and properties in the Country.

According to Bloomberg Billionaire Index, Bezos is less than $5 billion away from becoming the world’s richest person in a bid to overtake Bill Gates. Bezos saw his fortune surpass $80 billion for the first time on Thursday.

As of Wednesday, Dangote was worth $9.91 billion, but climbed to $9.96 billion by the end of trading at the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Thursday.

The UK and US give North Korea conditions for peace

The US and UK as well as their allies have given conditions for peaceful resolution of the ongoing conflict over North Korea’s nuclear threats.

The two countries gave the conditions at a high-level meeting on North Korea, attended by Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the 15-Member UN Security Council on Friday in New York.

This was just as North Korea reportedly launched another missile test on Friday as a Security Council’s meeting chaired by the U.S. got underway at the UN.

The high-level meeting was chaired by U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson to end the country’s Presidency of the Council for the Month of April 2017.

Tillerson said: “For the past 20 years, well-intentioned diplomatic efforts to halt these programs have failed.

“It is only by first dismantling them that there can be peace, stability, and economic prosperity for all of Northeast Asia.

“With each successive detonation and missile test, North Korea pushes Northeast Asia and the world closer to instability and broader conflict.

“The threat of a North Korean nuclear attack on Seoul, or Tokyo, is real.

“And it is likely only a matter of time before North Korea develops the capability to strike the U.S. mainland.

“Indeed, the DPRK has repeatedly claimed it plans to conduct such a strike.

“Given that rhetoric, the United States cannot idly stand by. Nor can other members of this council who are within striking distance of North Korean missiles”.

The U.S. envoy warned that there was no reason to think that North Korea would change its behaviour under the current multilateral sanctions framework.

“For too long, the international community has been reactive in addressing North Korea. Those days must come to an end.

“Failing to act now on the most pressing security issue in the world may bring catastrophic consequences.

“We have said this before and it bears repeating: the policy of strategic patience is over. Additional patience will only mean acceptance of a nuclear North Korea.

“The more we bid our time, the sooner we will run out of it,” Tillerson warned.

He added: “Lastly, as we have said before, all options for responding to future provocation must remain on the table.

“Diplomatic and financial levers of power will be backed up by a willingness to counteract North Korean aggression with military action if necessary”.

On its part, the UK, through Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson, called for a change of approach by the Security Council, towards North Korea.

“This Council must be united in its demand that the present course cannot continue and Britain is proud today to have joined its allies to lead the enforcement of sanctions and seek a peaceful solution.

“We urge other partners with direct influence on North Korea to use their leverage to the full, with the aim of easing tensions and ensuring compliance with the expressed will of the UN.”

The UK called on Russia and China and other Member States to use whatever influence they possess to restrain North Korea and guide its leaders towards a peaceful settlement.

“Britain stands alongside our allies in making clear that North Korea must obey the UN and halt its nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programmes, disarming in a complete, verifiable and irreversible manner.

“Only then can this Council be assured of the peace and security of the region – and only then can the people of North Korea have the chance of a better future.

“But the catastrophic effects of a North Korean nuclear strike outweigh any economic benefits.

“We must be willing to face the hard truths and make hard choices right now to prevent disastrous outcomes in the future.

“For years, North Korea has been dictating the terms of its dangerous course of action; it is time for us to retake control of the situation,” Johnson said.

Other members of the Security Council that supported U.S. and UK included Egypt, Ethiopia, France, Italy, Sweden and Ukraine.

The real cause of Abubakar Audu's death revealed by his Son

After a long silence, Mohammed, the eldest son of Prince Abubakar Audu, a former Governor of Kogi State and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the November 21, 2015, governorship election in the state, has finally revealed what lead to the death of his father.

Audu died on November 22, 2015 shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the elections inconclusive.

Speaking with The Sun, Mohammed said his father died of ulcer and not spiritual attack as was widely reported in the media.

He said, “We didn’t grow up to believe in any spiritual attack. More so, I know that he died of bleeding peptic ulcer. I knew he was under pressure, I knew a lot of things went wrong at the time, but then, as for the election, he was coasting home to victory.

“Not that he was going to win; he had won. It was just for the miscalculation of INEC that made them to say it was inconclusive. But in my opinion, he had won fair and square.”

On how the family is copping since the father died, Mohammed said, “The family is good. We are just trying to put the pieces together.

“You know when the head of the family goes like this, the process of recovery and trying to step into his shoes is not exactly very easy.

“So, we are all pulling together, trying our best to see how we can come out of the shock and continue with his legacy.”

Kim Khardashian speaks about how the Paris robbery changed her life

For the first time since Kim Kardashian's Paris robbery, the reality TV star was at the Ellen DeGeneres eponymous daytime show where she spoke about a lot of things, the Paris robbery attack she suffered being one of them.
She revealed to Ellen that she felt the robbery was meant to happen to her just to teach her not to show off so much.

Ellen began the interview by asking Kim about the experience of being bound, gagged and held at gunpoint, to which Kim replied:
"I know this sounds crazy, but I know that was meant to happen to me. I don't want to start crying, but I feel like that was so meant to happen to me," Kim says while wiping away tears. "I'm such a different person. I, um...I don't want to start crying anymore. It was meant to happen to me. I really feel like things happen in your life to teach you things. It was probably no secret, and you see it on the show—I was being flashy and I was definitely materialistic before."
She said there was nothing wrong with being excited about something you worked hard for and wanting to show it off, but she said with the robbery experience, she is now less materialistic and doesn't care so much for expensive jewelry. She went on to reveal that she likes the new person she has become, courtesy of the horrible experience and expressed her gratitude that her kids will get to see the new her and learn from her.

"I'm so happy that my kids get this me and that this is who I'm raising my kids (as). 'Cause I just don't care about that stuff anymore. I really don't. Like I said, everyone gets so excited when they get things. Or, of course when you get engaged, you're going to show off your ring. If you get a new car, I don't care what kind it is, you get so proud and you get so happy and you show that off on social media. But it's just...it's not worth it. Like, I don't care about that stuff. I don't care to show off the way that I used to. Even though there's nothing wrong, truly, it's OK if you're proud of that and you work so hard and you get something. It's just not who I am anymore."
At Ellen's request, Kim recounted her experience on that horrible night in Paris last year. With a shaky voice and tears in her eyes, she told of how she felt, thinking those were her very last moments.
"I knew that was it for me," Kim said, then Ellen asked if that meant she was convinced she was going to die and Kim replied: "100%. I said a prayer, I'm like, I know I'm going to heaven. I hope my kids are OK... my husband..."

Kim also spoke about her former step father, Caitlyn Jenner’s memoir, “The Secrets of My Life. She does not approve of the way Caitlyn depicted her mother.
“My heart breaks for my mom,” “Because I feel like she’s been through so much.” She said she feels like Caitlyn is not being honest about “certain things” about Kris and other facts in the book and when she promotes the memoir. “I just feel like its unfair, things aren’t truthful.”

We will shut Nigeria down on May 30th says IPOB

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has called on its followers and people of the South East to ensure that Nigeria is “shut down” on May 30 2017.

IPOB had earlier ordered Igbos to embark on sit-at-home, on May 30, 2017, a day set aside to honour those who lost their lives during the civil war of 1967-1970.

In a statement by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, the pro-Biafra group also urged its members not to be discouraged by the stringent bail conditions for the release of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

IPOB noted that its main focus at the moment was the scheduled May 30 remembrance day.

The group, while commending those who stood by the organization since the detention of Kanu, assured that their support would never be in vain.

IPOB said, “We should not be discouraged by the court ruling of April 25, 2017. Rather, we are focused on May 30, 2017 remembrance day, which is the priority of every IPOB member to ensure that no movement of any sort, both human and vehicular, across Biafra land on that day, will take place.

“We must make sure that all areas occupied by Biafrans for the remembrance and honour of our heroes and heroines, who laid down their lives during the genocidal war are shut down.

“Our leader (Kanu) has been in high spirit since his arrest in 2015 and we cannot afford our spirit to be dampened towards the liberation of Biafra because of conditions attached to his release.”

I will not run for a political office says Michelle Obama

In her first speech leaving the white house, former first lady of US, Michelle Obama has revealed that she has no intention to run for a political office for family reasons.

During the recent American Institute of Architects convention in Orlando, Michelle who admitted that the White House stay was tough told the audience that she wouldn’t run for public office saying: 'I wouldn’t ask my children to do this again.'
'It’s all well and good until you start running, and then the knives come out,' she said in her speech. 'I wouldn’t ask my children to do this again because, when you run for higher office, it’s not just you, it’s your whole family.'
No cameras were permitted at the speech, where Obama told the audience she can help the country as a private citizen without being in the political spotlight, adding that the vitriol of politics meant that people "thought I was the devil.
"On what it's been like since leaving the White House, she said:
'It's good to get out of the house. It's been so far so good, it hasn't been that long since we left but it's good to not have the weight of the world upon your shoulders.'
'Friends are surprised I answer the door now', adding that her daughters Sasha and Malia can actually open their windows now, something they could never do at the White House.
At the White House, she said her daughters once caused a commotion when they tried to open their bedroom window that faced the public side of the White House because they liked to listen to the protesters. They found it soothing, Michelle added.
She said their dogs, Bo and Sunny, never heard a doorbell before because the White House doesn't have a doorbell.
Describing their final day at the White House as 'bittersweet,' she said it was the longest place she had lived in her entire life and her daughters, Malia and Sasha who grew up at the White House were reduced to tears when President Donald and Melania Trump moved in.
'I didn't want to have tears in my eyes for the new President,' she said.

She, however, promised to continue helping young girls to get an education around the world.
'One issue that I am excited about continuing to work on is … to help young girls get an education around the world,' adding that ‘The plight of women and girls is real. The struggles are real.'
For the most part, former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama have steered clear of the public spotlight since leaving the White House. The two were last spotted earlier this month on a yacht off the island of Mo'orea in the South Pacific.

The Obamas are also busy working on their memoirs after landing a deal with Penguin Random House that could yield them tens of millions of dollars.

The couple plans to live in Washington until their younger daughter, Sasha, graduates high school in 2019.

The multiple award-winning actress, however, is hopeful that God will present the right man to her at the right time.

When asked whether social pressure don’t get to her, Rita replied, “I am a human being and I would be lying to say that it doesn’t sometimes.

“I will live with the man, so it is very important that I do it because I want to, not because society wants it for me.”

On the myth that sex, for women, gets better with age, Rita opined that sex at 40 is what you make of it.

“If you ordinarily don’t enjoy it, age won’t make a difference.

“I find that when a woman embraces her sexuality, many Nigerians equate it to being Ashewo, as if we should act like sex is not pleasurable.”

Rita described dating, as a nightmare, “especially in these days of social media where with one click you are all over the internet.”

Though she admitted that “I do date when someone special comes around.

“I love being totally drawn to someone and doing all those loving things couples do, but I am also wary of liars and bullies.‎”..

President Buhari will not resign says Femi Adesina

Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, has said his principal will not resign and that those asking him to, are “merely expressing their opinions.”

Buhari didn't attend the Jummat prayer in Aso Villa on Friday, after failing to convene the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting for the third consecutive week.
