Woman attempted boarding a flight with a peacock claimed it was her emotional support

Delta Air Lines recently introduced new regulations in an attempt to prevent passengers from bringing untrained animals onto flights.

United Airlines denied a woman's efforts to bring a peacock onto a flight departing from Newark Liberty International Airport, according to the travel blog Live and Let's Fly.
Photos of the peacock were posted to Facebook by the travel talk show the Jet Set.
The woman reportedly claimed that the peacock was an emotional support animal  which would allow the animal to fly for free. While the woman also offered to pay for the peacock's ticket, United would not let the animal onto the flight.
"This animal did not meet guidelines for a number of reasons, including its weight and size. We explained this to the customer on three separate occasions before she arrived at the airport," United said in a statement to Business Insider.
The airline also said that it requires passengers to "provide documentation from a medical professional and at least 48 hours advance notice" before bringing an emotional support animal onto a flight.
The incident follows Delta Air Lines' announcement that it would impose tighter regulations for passengers who attempt to travel with service or emotional-support animals. The airline said it saw an 84% increase since 2016 in incidents involving animals that were not properly trained, which included urination, defecation, and attacks on passengers and crew members.
The new regulations will require passengers to show the airline documentation that proves an animal's health 48 hours before a flight. Passengers who attempt to travel with emotional support animals will need to present a signed letter from a doctor or mental professional, as well as a signed document that states the animal can behave properly during a flight.

Raila Odinga Kenyan opposition leader sworn in as President

Kenyan opposition leader Raila Odinga had himself sworn in as an alternative president Tuesday in front of thousands of supporters, three months after an election he claims was stolen from him.

Authorities have repeatedly warned that such an inauguration was treasonous and that Odinga could face arrest.

However as the wording of the oath was different to that in the constitution, the consequences of this act of political theatre were unclear.

“I Raila Amolo Odinga, in full realisation of the high calling, assume the office of the People’s President of the Republic of Kenya,” he said in the brief and chaotic ceremony, prompting the sea of people to erupt with joy.

“We have accomplished our promise to Kenyans,” said Odinga before quickly departing, the packed venue emptying out in minutes.

The ceremony followed hours of uncertainty as supporters waited in the baking sun and commentators speculated over whether the 72-year-old would actually go through with the “inauguration” that was already delayed in December.

It also came as outrage hit the media fraternity after government allegedly warned broadcasters not to cover the event, and pulled major television network Citizen TV off the air mid-morning.

“President (Uhuru) Kenyatta expressly threatened to shut down and revoke the licences of any media house that would broadcast live,” the Editors’ Guild said in a statement, referring to a meeting that media bosses were summoned to last week.

“The guild is appalled by the details of the meeting which was held under an atmosphere of intimidation for the media representatives present.”

Police steer clear
Odinga, a veteran opposition leader, has refused to accept Kenyatta’s re-election, which came after a deeply divisive 2017 polls season in which rights activists say at least 92 people were killed.

United States of America lifts ban on eleven refugee countries

The United States announced Monday it was lifting its ban on refugees from 11 “high-risk” countries, but said those seeking to enter the US would come under much tougher scrutiny than in the past.

Applicants from 11 countries, unnamed but understood to include 10 Muslim-majority nations plus North Korea, will face tougher “risk-based” assessments to be accepted.

“It’s critically important that we know who is entering the United States,” said Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen.

“These additional security measures will make it harder for bad actors to exploit our refugee program, and they will ensure we take a more risk-based approach to protecting the homeland.”

The 11 countries, hit with a ban in October in the Trump administration’s revised refugee policy, have not been identified officially.

But refugee groups say they comprise Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Mali, North Korea, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.

– Not a ‘Muslim ban’ –

Speaking anonymously, a senior administration official told journalists that the policy of enhanced security assessments for the 11 countries was not designed to target Muslims.

“Our admissions have nothing to do with religion,” the official said, adding that there is “nothing especially novel” about tougher screening for countries deemed to have a higher level of risk.

Donald Trump has pursued a much tougher stance on immigrants and refugees from all countries since becoming president one year ago.

His predecessor Barack Obama set refugee admission in fiscal 2017, which began on October 2016, at 110,000.

When Trump took office a year ago, he slashed that to 53,000, a number that was cut again to a maximum of 45,000 in fiscal 2018.

But refugee arrivals this year could come in significantly lower than that, due to the backlog from the 120-day halt and a slowdown in processing because of generally tougher applicant reviews.

DHS would not explain what the tougher vetting measures for the 11 countries would include.

But all applicants are being asked to supply more detailed histories and evidence of their past activities, and many are having to allow access to personal electronics and social media accounts.

The move comes as Trump presses for a sharp turn in overall US immigration policy that critics say will result in a 50 percent cut in arrivals each year and bias admissions away from African, Asian and Muslim countries.

Last week, Trump proposed to end the 27-year-old “green card lottery” program that aims to diversify the source of immigrants, leading to an upturn in those from Middle Eastern and African countries.

He also proposed to tightly limit the family members who can join immigrants to only spouses and younger children. Until now, such “chain migration” could extend to immigrants’ parents, grandparents, siblings and extended family.

The White House said the policy was necessary to protect national security from terror and crime threats.

In return, Trump proposed a plan that offers 1.8 million young unauthorized immigrants known as “Dreamers” a path to citizenship over 10-12 years.

Democrats and Republicans are starting negotiations on those proposals, along with Trump’s request for a $25 billion “trust fund” to build a wall on the southern US border to deter illegal border-crossers from Mexico.

There is no alternative to Buhari come 2019 says Governor El- Rufai

President Muhammadu Buhari remains electorally unbeatable with his attachment to the people unwavering, despite recriminations by the elite class on social and conventional media, Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has said.

Governor El-Rufai, who is also Chairman of All Progressives Congress, APC, Committee on Restructuring, also affirmed President Buhari’s endorsement of the committee’s recommendations on restructuring, saying the President was ready to give up his powers if it would help to move the country forward. Governor El-Rufai’s claim of Buhari’s endorsement of the report was immediately pooh-poohed by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, which challenged the governor and the APC to forward the committee report to the National Assembly.

The PDP in its response said Nigerians, having been once deceived by the lies and propaganda of the APC, would not be taken in for a second time. Affirming the president’s electoral invincibility, El-Rufai in an interview on Channels Television said: “I do not have any doubt in my mind that we are going to win the next elections; not only in the centre but we are going to preserve our 24 states, and even more,” he said.

Insisting that the president remained popular despite insinuations to the contrary in conventional and social media platforms, the governor said: “We are not saying this foolishly; this is scientific. We are monitoring the pulse of Nigerians, not the pulse of a section of Nigerians and I am confident that we are going to win the 2019 elections. “We know the pulse of the nation, we know where we are losing support, we know where we are gaining support; I have no doubt in my mind that we are going to win the 2019 elections. “There are two pulses of Nigerians – there is the pulse of the Nigerian elites which is the noise that you hear in the media, the social media and so on; then there is the pulse of the people. “If you remember how many people came out to welcome President Buhari in Kano, then you will know that there are two Nigerias.” Affirming the President’s endorsement of the APC Committee report on restructuring, El-Rufai said the President will sacrifice any of his powers if necessary, to move the country forward.

“If giving up power will make Nigeria progress, he will give all of it up. Not just part of it, but all of it. This is the real Buhari that many people don’t know. It is the most comprehensive review of this subject matter ever in Nigeria’s history. “APC’s true federalism committee differs from other confabs in at least two ways; first, previous confabs were conclaves of the elite. The government picks who goes there, they decide who participates, and it is mostly old people with a sprinkle of a few women. Our committee opened the space for everyone.

“More than one-third of the membership of our committee were women. More than a quarter of the membership were young people, below the age of 40. It was a very broad range of consultation. Many opposition figures have expressed support for the report. We have proposed more than 20 alterations to the constitution. Everything we did is in the best interest of Nigeria. “So, this is the first time that a platform has been given to young people and women and those that are vulnerable to give their voices to what shape of the federation they want to see. Because old people like me, 50, 60, 70 cannot define the future for Nigerian youth below the age of 40. What young women and our people see is completely different from what old people see.”

United Arab Emirates is currently building a $354 Million city with driverless cars and powered by solar

Sustainable City outside Dubai, UAE.

The UAE aims to have 75% of Dubai's energy come from clean sources by 2050. If the city pulls that off, it would have the smallest carbon footprint in the world.
As part of this larger goal, local company Diamond Developers is building a city 18 miles outside central Dubai that's designed to produce more energy than it consumes. Called
Sustainable City, the development is expected to cost $354 million and be fully complete by 2019.
Find out more below:

In 2013, Diamond Developers started building Sustainable City, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2018.

The 113-acre city aims to curb CO2 emissions as much as possible. Cars are banned from most neighborhoods.

Residents are only permitted to take public transport, drive electric-powered smart cars, or take horse-drawn buggies.

Instead of gas stations, there are 250 charging stations.

On January 22, Dubai's transport authority signed an agreement to operate electric driverless cars in the new city. Homeowners also get a free electric golf cart or a $10,000 subsidy toward buying another electric vehicle.

Residents can also ride the city's electric buses for free.

Every home's roof features solar panels.

And a 98-foot-wide park with 2,500 trees also helps reduce air pollution.

Diamond Developers is building the city in two phases.

The first phase — which opened in 2015 — includes 500 villas, 89 apartment buildings, 11 dome greenhouses that cut through the center of the development, 32,300 square feet of outdoor urban farms, and 1.16 million square feet of office and retail space.

Huh! In Botswana man divorces his wife to be with his S*X doll

A 39-year-old man from Botswana known as Paellas Mohule, has divorced his wife for a s.e.x doll he recently bought from the United States.

According to him, women were just after his money and usually had diseases which made him prefer a doll.

Mohule who is a car dealer in Gaborone, Botswana, bought a doll worth $2,600.00(N935,251.80) from the United States.

Ugandan website,Ugblizz stated that Mohule claimed that women have failed to satisfy him in bed. So after sleeping with it, he divorced the mother of four children claiming she was no match to the doll when it comes to bedroom matters.

However, he pledged to support his former wife and children provided she allowed him time to enjoy the doll in peace.

Ahneeka

Growing up as the middle child of five siblings, Ahneeka has developed a love for unrest: she promised to eliminate “all things dull” by disturbing everyone in the House whilst having bucket loads of fun. Ahneeka’s biggest feat is of landing a media job despite her engineering background. She says her family is freaked out about her participation yet are fully supportive of her.

Alex
Sandra Asagwa is a social butterfly who loves to dance. This single, vibrant, young lady is one of three children and she said she will miss her family the most while in the House. Working with an American rapper is a highlight of Angel’s career. One of ten children, Angel lost his mum a year ago and his family is strongly rallied behind him. Angel describes himself as passionate, and keeping his fiery and emotional nature under wraps may be a challenge in the House.

Khloe

A horror movie buff, Khloe owns having no hidden talent and is only looking to bring drama to the house. At the core of herself, Khloe believes she is often misunderstood and hopes to use her time in the House for her true self to shine. If Khloe were a world leader, she would “stop university education” because she’s “real”, she doesn’t “sugar coat” and says it “the way it is”.

Leo
Leo enjoys playing basketball and is a fervent supporter of Premier League football clubs. He is still pained that his father didn’t live to see him graduating from university. With his good looks, intelligence and secret math skills, Leo believes he can “solve everyone’s problems”. If he was an animal, the fiercely protective Leo would be a lion “to defend” his family, his mother, three sisters and brother.

Lolu
Lolu enjoys eating, reading, traveling, playing video as well as board games. His highest point in life was securing a job at a large investment banking corporation, although losing his mother made him reach rock bottom. The University of Ilorin graduate also a secret poet, dancer and singer. He’s also great with accents. Lolu’s dad is unaware of his participation in Big Brother but his sister is excited about it.

Anto
Born and raised in the US, Anto came back to Nigeria for the first time at the age of 20 to work at her dream job in a male-dominated industry. By her own admission, she has no special talents that she knows of. Growing up on the Atlantic coast, Anto loves going to the beach, dancing and cooking. She also takes no prisoners for being scandalous so she can wear anything.

Bambam
Actress and singer Oluwabamike “Bambam” Olawunmi joins the House secretly from her family. A native of Ogun state, Bambam confessed that binge-watching movies, playing badminton and singing were here favourite pastimes. She attended film school, which was a way to overcome her parents divorce. BamBam’s spirit-animal is the black panther because it has “good massage skills”.

Bitto

The youngest of four siblings, Bitto most painful memory was losing his mum at an early age. He expects his family to be shocked but very supportive of him. He will miss Sylvia his best friend and girlfriend the most. If he was an animal, Bitto says he would be a camel for there is no stroke that can break his back. Bitto’s hobbies include traveling, taking pictures, music and movies.

Miracle
Newly graduated from the aviation school, Miracle flies into the House with his pilot license firmly in hand. He feels grateful for everything in life as he knows how financially difficult it was to get there. Miracle’s love of dancing and camping is only parallel by his sense of fashion, especially his skinny jeans. Miracles hates inequality and says he’s not in the game for the money.

Nina
Nina brings her people skills to the House: she says she loves talking, interacting with people and singing. Nina knows she’ll be the fans’ favourite because she will be “real and fans will love that”. If she were an animal, she said she would be a cat with nine lives for all the challenges she has gone through and overcome.

Princess
Princess Linda Onyejekwe enjoys cooking, designing clothes and partying on occasion. She recalls having not yet reached the highest point of her life and aspires for more. A geology graduate, Princess intends to use her time in the House to tap into her secret acting talents and let her “Alter Egos" take center stage.

Cee-c
Cee-C enters the House pretty satisfied to have found her purpose in life. Oozing confidence and authenticity, she said she is “eye candy” and “mentally attractive” too. Her features are enhanced by her love for dresses that hug her body at the right spots. The privately educated Cee-C likes to learn new stuff and is an avid novel reader. She is a mean cook and is an avid tennis player.

Rico Swavey

Even if he had a million dollars Rico Swavey would be in the House “just to catch the waves”. He said he exploded of joy when he got his first big acting gig, and shared that he was a lion at heart, a protector who likes to stand up for the oppressed. When Rico Swavey is not busy charming ladies, he enjoys swimming and singing. Rico’s parents and seven siblings are happy and supportive

Dee-one
From an early age, Dee-One has learned to laugh at everything and has developed this talent into an art. He also enjoys reading the Bible, poetry, dancing, rapping and singing. Dee-One confessed he would sorely miss his phone, but he can trust BBNaija fans to love the humour he brings into the House. If he was a world leader, Dee-One says he would change the poverty mentality.

Teddy-A
There are two things that make Teddy jam in this world: recording and making music in the studio. He also adores spending quality time with and doting on his four-year old son. A self-described chameleon who can fit in any society, Teddy joins the House because he wants to ‘blow’ and ‘be popular’. His ever-supporting family and his four brothers have all rallied behind him.

Ifu Ennada
Work hard play hard Ifu Ennada is a work hard – play hard self-made woman who remembers the feeling of making her first millions. She cites her hobbies as drinking Mojitos, partying, karaoke and online shopping. Ifu Ennada admit she’ll miss her phone as she likes to “reply to people on social media”.

Tobi
A native from Ogun state, Oluwatobi Bakre is passionate about photography and football. Tobi’s hobbies range from poetry, dancing, rapping, singing and drawing. Against all odds, Tobi graduated from the University of Lagos considering he is an avid clubber who lives on social media. The youngest of four siblings, Tobi’s most painful experience was seeing his father cry at his grandmother’s funeral. Forever supportive, Tobi’s family shares in the BBNaija excitement. He has always wanted to be in the House if only “for fun”.

K.Brule
When he is not rehearsing in studios, K.Brule can be found playing football and watching movies. After graduating from music school, he enrolled at university only to drop out when he learned that his mother was gravely ill. An only child, K.Brule says he is a fun, loyal and happy mate. His mother is super excited about BBNaija. If he were a world leader, he would make energy and education accessible for all.

Vandora
Apart from being a foodie, Vandora likes talking to people, doing make up and watching TV. She says she was at her lowest when she failed her second year at university. However that misfortune turned to be what she describes as her highest point in life when she finally graduated at an advertising school. Vandora’s family was shocked to find out about her going into the house but she knows they’ll support her.

Millions of Nigerians will join APC soon says President Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari says he is expecting millions of Nigerians to join the ruling All Progressives Congress in the next few months.

He said the defectors would join the party from all parts of the country.

Buhari said this in a letter he sent to Senator Basheer Mohammed, who recently defected to the party in Kano.

Mohammed’s Personal Assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, posted a copy of the letter dated January 25, 2018, and titled, ‘Re: Declaration for APC,’ on his Twitter handle, @BashirAhmaad.

Buhari’s letter was a response to an earlier one by the senator informing him of his decision to join the ruling party.

The President said he would have loved to attend a welcome reception organised for the federal lawmaker in Kano but for the 30th African Union Summit he was attending in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Buhari’s letter to the senator read, “I was most delighted to receive your letter informing me of your impending decision to formally declare for our great party, the APC.

“Furthermore, I am very encouraged to learn that you are bringing thousands of new supporters into the fold.

“We are expecting millions to join us in the next few months from all parts of the country.

“I would have very much welcomed another opportunity to be in Kano but due to a conflict of engagements; I am due on that day in Addis Ababa for an important African Union meeting which was scheduled months ago.

“I hope I shall have the pleasure of welcoming you to the Presidential Villa in the near future. I wish the event turns out to be a resounding success.”

The letter was personally signed by the President.

The News Agency of Nigeria reported that Lado and his supporters joined the APC at the Sani Abacha Stadium Kano, on Saturday.

He was received by Deputy National Chairman of the APC, Segun Oni, on behalf of the party’s National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.
