My government saves Nigeria N25 billion monthly says Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari  said his administration saves the nation about N25 billion monthly through the stoppage of unnecessary allowances for government officials and blockage of other financial leakages in all its agencies.

President Buhari stated this in Jos, at the graduation ceremony of Senior Executice Course 39 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, Kuru, Plateau state.

Represented by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Mr. Buhari scored his government high saying the government has effectively tackled corruption.

He said the government will not relent in its fight against graft.

Mr. Osinbajo said the onging elementary school feeding programme has targeted 5.5 million children to be captured in 19 states before the end the administration’s tenure.

He said challenges being faced in power supply in Nigeria will soon be history.

He urged authories of NIPSS to improve on recommendations made by its participants while discussing national economic development.

He assured that the federal government would make ”good use of recommendations of the course participants on agriculture.”

Earlier, the acting Director General, NIPSS, Jonathan Juma, said participants who had attended the institute since it was established 39 years ago, have impacted positively on nation building.

The official said the mission of NIPSS is to serve as a centre for policy, advocacy, advice and training for Nigeria and Africa in the context of a dynamic and changing world.

Governor Fayose says he plans to buy Christmas clothes for 10,000 children

The state Governor, Chief Ayodele Fayose, disclosed this during a meeting with tailors in Ado-Ekiti.

According to a press release by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Idowu Adelusi, on Sunday, the sewing and distribution of the clothes would take place in designated centres across the 16 local government areas of the state.

The governor also promised to buy 100 sewing machines to support those to be used as volunteer tailors during the exercise.

He added that the sewing machines would later be given out to tailors through a transparent balloting process.

Fayose said, “The exercise is part of our Stomach Infrastructure Programme and we have to take care of the needs of our people and make them happy.”

However, the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti has scoffed at the governor’s plan, noting that it was “another fraudulent game to loot the treasury.”

The state APC Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatunbosun, in a statement in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday said, “it is sheer greed, wickedness and callous insensitivity to Ekiti people’s plight for Fayose to refuse to address doctors’ strike in the public hospitals over unpaid salaries while other workers remain unpaid for between six and nine months.”

My father is not dead, please ignore rumours says ''Baba Sala's'' son

Popular actor, Moses Olaiya, popularly known as “ Baba Sala ’’ is alive, his son confirmed on Wednesday.

Mr Boisala Adejumo, one of Olaiya’s sons debunked the raging rumour that “Baba Sala’’ died on Tuesday – saying that the veteran actor was alive.

Adejumo said that although his father was frail as could be expected of anyone of his age, “he is hale and hearty.

Baba Sala is alive so, please save your condolences. My father is over 80 years old and is frail, due to illnesses associated with old age but he is alive.

“My father is peacefully enjoying his life in Ijesa and he does not have stroke either.”

Adejumo advised the public to always desist from quickly reacting to information emanating from the social media, noting that information on the social media could be misleading.

He advised bloggers to always carry thorough investigations and seek clarifications from relevant authorities before posting information on social media.

“Most bloggers or online reporters are not seasoned journalists. They just post things to attract inflow of traffic to their sites,” Adejumo said.

Choi! man squanders 10M which was erroneously sent to his account

The Chief Executive Officer of an oil and gas company, Olukunle Owolabi, was yesterday arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court, sitting at Igbosere, for allegedly using the N10million erroneously deposited into his bank account.

The 53-year-old man, alongside his company, were charged before Magistrate F. O. Botoku.

The defendant, who resides in Ogudu GRA, Lagos, is facing a count charge of fraud preferred against him by the Police.

The prosecutor, Chinedu Njoku, told the court that he committed the alleged offence on April 5.

He said the incident occurred at 2, Tinubu Street, Lagos Island.

Njoku said at about 11a.m., the defendant fraudulently converted N10 million belonging to a bank, which was deposited into his account by Telecorev Nigeria Limited on March 31.

The prosecutor told the court that the defendant’s account was last used by him in 2016 and when he suddenly got an alert from the bank, he transferred the entire money into his account in another bank and used it in paying off his debts.

‘My defence’ The defendant, during his arraignment, told the court that on March 31, he received an alert of N10m.

He continued: “When I got the alert, I thought it was from one of our customers or debtors so I decided to wait till I get a call from the bank or the person.

“When I didn’t get any call, on April 4 I transferred the money to my account in another bank, which led to my account being frozen.

“It is a clear case of Criminal conspiracy by the bank and Telecorev to launder money and operate my account illegally without my consent.”

He asked for the Telecorev account from which the money was transferred to be probed.

The law
According to Njoku, the offence committed is punishable under Section 285(5a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Magistrate Botoku granted him bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum.

She said the sureties must be gainfully employed and show evidence of payment of tax to Lagos State government with verification of addresses.

The case was adjourned to December 19.

10,000 Edo indigenes trafficked in a year says Governor Obaseki

10,000 Edo indigenes trafficked in one year – Obaseki says

Gov. Godwin Obaseki of Edo, on Wednesday said no fewer than 10,000 indigenes of the state were trafficked in the last one year.
Obaseki made this known while presenting the state’s 2018 Appropriation Bill of N146.6 billion to the House of Assembly.
He disclosed that more than 3,000 deaths were recorded among the trafficked persons.
The governor said that the state government had sent a Bill to the House for consideration to strengthen the fight against human trafficking in the state.
He said that sanity had been restored to land administration in the state, adding that the law prohibiting the activities of community development associations passed by the House of Assembly had helped in curbing the menace.
“We have also concluded plans to build 20 mini-stadia across the state to develop new talents,’’ he added.

421Million is ready for the Ikoyi cash whistle-blower says Minister of Finance

The Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, has said a total of N421.33m is ready to be paid to whistle-blowers for the November batch.

She said the amount included that of the whistle-blower for the cash recovered from a building in Osborne Road, Ikoyi, Lagos.

Adeosun disclosed this on Wednesday while answering questions from State House correspondents, after the weekly meeting of the Federal Executive Council presided over by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

She said the money would be paid to the whistle-blower who signed the agreement and not any firm.

The minister also disclosed that the Federal Government would pay applicable taxes on the sum directly to the state government where the whistle-blower is domiciled.

She said, “The total amount, which also include Osborne Road, Ikoyi is N421, 330, 595. This is for the November batch and it is ready for payment.

“The only condition necessary is that the money will be paid to the whistle-blower who signed the agreement, not to any company.

“If we get the court judgement, we have to wait for three months to ensure that there are no encumbrances.”

She added, “We will also make sure that all applicable taxes are paid ahead. We will get in touch with the state government where the person is domiciled and we will pay the tax directly to the state and issue the tax receipt.

“We built in these procedures to protect the whistle-blower.”

Uber has allgedly been banned from operating in Isreal

Dara Khosrowshahi, Uber CEO

A judge ruled that the company does not have the appropriate insurance in place to operate in Israel.
Uber has been banned in Israel, according to reports from local news sites Haaretz and The Jerusalem Post.
A Tel Aviv judge reportedly said on Monday that the company does not have the appropriate insurance in place to operate in Israel.
Uber will be banned in Israel from 10 a.m. on Tuesday, according to Haaretz.
The court case was brought about by Israel's Transportation Ministry which argues that Uber breaks the law by letting drivers charge passengers without a licence.
Tens of thousands of people have reportedly used Uber in Israel, according to Uber's Israel chief, Yoni Greifman.
Uber has several other legal and regulatory battles going on around the world. In London, for example, it is fighting to get its operating licence renewed and appealing a court decision that said it must treat its UK drivers as workers and give them more rights.
The company's executives have been travelling around the world this month to try and reassure regulators that Uber meets their laws.

Big Sean excited about his Ex Naya Rivera been arrested for Assault

Over the weekend, American actress Naya Rivera, famous for her role in the television series ''Glee'' was arrested on charges of assault and battery on her current husband Ryan Dorsey.
The 30-year-old actress was said to have attacked her husband while the two of them were taking a walk with their son and left him with minor injuries on his head. She was subsequently charged to court and released on bail.
As soon as the news came out, Big Sean who obviously was delighted by the misfortune of the woman who broke off their engagement took to Twitter to share a video that definitely looked like shade. The video shows a little girl talking animatedly, saying ‘I told you niggas…Y’all thought I was playing but I told y’all’

Adesuwa gives epic response amist all the controversy of her nude photo

As Nigerians continue to argue the merits and demerits of the accidental exposure of her dressing up; the newly married Mrs Wellington responded to the ‘scandal’ simply by putting a photo of them up and captioning it ‘My Husband’.

So Nigerians stop drinking panadol for another persons headache!

My defection to APC is in the best interest of Igbo people says Ojukwu's son

The first son of late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, Mr. Emeka Ojukwu Jr. has reacted to the controversy trailing his recent defection to All Progressives Congress, APC, saying he was merely following his father’s steps.

Ojukwu, who spoke in Awka insisted that he would never return to the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in the state, describing the alleged overtures being made to by Governor Willie Obiano to him to return to APGA as infantile, adding that it smacked of ignorance on the part of the governor about the workings of politics in Nigeria.

According to him, action he took was in the best interest of Igbo, recalling how, shortly after his return from exile in 1982, his father joined the defunct National Party of Nigeria (NPN), rather than the then Nigeria Peoples Party (NPP) dominated by the Igbo.

He said: “I can afford to stay back in APGA and wallow in sentimental politics that ‘this is our own’, but in the long run, what becomes of our tomorrow and place in the greater Nigeria project, for which our forefathers laboured, invested their time, talent and even their blood?

“Which is preferable: to be a big fish in a small pond or a big fish in the ocean? Real champions are never afraid of the big league. That could be why late Dr. Chuba Okadigbo, asserted that if you cannot reason beyond petty sentiments, you are a liability to mankind. Igbo people are not better off with emotional politics.

“So, while they seek to crucify me for joining APC, they express support and solidarity for the APC leader. Which is worse, to walk the talk or pander to politics of deceit and duplicity? What is the essence of being in a party that would rather support the presidential candidate of another party than choose its own?”

He said the governor was still playing kindergarten politics, wondering why Obiano and other party chieftains should condemn him for identifying with APC, while they struggled to impress President Muhammadu Buhari that they support him for a second term in office.

He observed that having supported Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan in office, Igbo have decided to support President Buhari in the spirit of fairness and political goodwill, so that when a president of Igbo extraction emerges, other ethnic groups would reciprocate.

We are pained that Maryam has not shown remorse even after stabbing our son says bereaved family

A brother of the deceased who spoke to the Nation, said the family is still in shock over the unfortunate incident. The brother who spoke on condition of anonymity, said they are waiting on the law enforcement agencies to ensure that justice prevails in this matter. The brother of the deceased spoke at a night of tribute held in honor of the deceased in Abuja last Thursday.

“So far, the family is grieving. Maryam’s family have come to pay their condolence. The mother has come but what is more painful is the fact that Maryam does not look remorseful for what she did at all. I just pray one day, she finds it in her heart to honestly say what it is that made her do what she did. As a family, we are looking at the authority to do what is right, to let justice prevail. This is an example to others. The way this case is treated will determine how we move forward…Bilyamin was not just my older brother but best friend.” he said

A friend of the deceased, Hakeem Ali, who also spoke at the night of tribute, said Bilyaminu was a prisoner in his matrmonial home. He denied allegations that Bilyaminu was a serial cheater.

'My friend was being held a prisoner in his own home. He couldn’t leave the house in the sense that it was an ongoing thing;  the abuse went on for a while. For me there is a difference between love and when somebody is being obsessive. People tend not to understand the difference between love and obsession. It wasn’t the best marriage and I believe either of them could have just walked away. It’s easier to sit down in that sorrow and think you can change things, or that if I can’t have him, no one will. I don’t consider it love. I can’t speak on his behalf. I can’t speak on his personal issue, he is a good friend and he is gone. He was that one guy that the minute we step out, we will be like, it is time for you to go home, your wife is about to call, after hanging out for as little as an hour or even 30 minutes. Even in the afternoon because she always calls. So we formed the habit of going to see him at home. The situation with the law, there are a lot of speculations right now on social media but if Nigeria should excuse people for murder just because they have a child, then if I am a murderer, then I will keep on having babies every week, that is not an excuse, for me. If somebody has committed a murder, either intentionally or by mistake, she should not be allowed to even see her baby because you don’t even know her state of mind. I don’t understand the system. A conversation has to begin on domestic violence against men as well because it’s becoming recurrent. If it is a case of murder by mistake then there is a price to pay of which a family can forgive but only God gives life and only God can take it. So, if you take a life, then your life should be taken. It is that simple. If the evidence shows it is a murder, then there is no excuse. It should be a case of an eye for an eye. It is that simple.”

Melania Trump blast vanity Fair for publishing a story saying she never wanted to be First Lady

melania trump

Melania Trump pushed back against a report that she never wanted to be first lady.
Vanity Fair published a lengthy story on Sunday examining Trump's relatively low-key tenure as first lady. The piece describes Trump's apprehension to being first lady, her skeletal East Wing staff, and relatively opaque relationship with President Donald Trump.
"This isn't something she wanted and it isn't something he ever thought he'd win," a longtime Trump friend told the magazine. "She didn't want this come hell or high water. I don't think she thought it was going to happen."
In a statement on Monday, the first lady's office pushed back on the piece.
"Once again part of the liberal media, this time Vanity Fair, has written a story riddled with unnamed sources and false assertions," a spokesperson said in a statement. "As a magazine tailored to women it is shameful that they continue to write salacious and false stories mean to demean Mrs. Trump, rather than focus on her positive work as First Lady and a supportive wife and mother. As has been stated on the record many times before, she is honored by her role."
Trump has largely avoided the spotlight since the inauguration.
The first lady avoided appointing a chief of staff for months after Trump's election, and didn't move into the White House until five months into the presidency, leaving staffers in the East Wing of President Barack Obama's White House little to do during the presidential transition.
